According to the well-known saying "failure is mother to success", I tend to agree with the speaker that it is primarily through mistakes that human knowledge advances, whether at the personal, community, or national level.

At personal level, from childhood to adulthood, individual learns to think and accomplish his or her goal independently through making mistakes. As a student, I can clearly perceive this point form my daily life. For instance, it is impossible for me to get full mark in every examination, and facing the mistakes I had made, I tend to think why I was wrong and what I should do to avoid these mistakes. After answer these questions myself, I would be able to find out the possible causes of these mistakes and comprehend once confused knowledge. Thus next time I could do better in my examination. In the same way, a teenager can eventually learn to ride a bike after several tumbles. An adult can get along very well with his or her colleagues after several offences. In short, mistakes are in fact useful experience for one to adapt to his or her future career or life.

At community level, government can benefit a lot from their wrong policy which would be helpful for them to make more proper and more effective ones. It is always from their mistakes can the governor realize which policy would be suitable for their community. For instance, our local government once carried out a policy to forcibly closedown some big factories that exhaust pollutant in the region for the sake of protecting local environment. This policy may have some effects on the pollution problem, however, it lead to numerous of local people lose their jobs and unemployment rate increase rapidly. Thus many local residents assembled in the streets to oppose the government which not only extraordinarily damage the local economy but also threaten the stability of the society. And then the governor realize that their former policy had neglect other aspects of local development and they immediately adopt additional policies to compensate these unemployed people and provide more job opportunity for them, at the same time pay attention to publicize the significance of the environment to the public-health. After this adjustment, the pollution problem has been effectively solved while the local community stays stable and prosperity.

At national level, making mistakes is an effective way for nations to improve their international status. It is especially true when we come to see some nation’ s external policies. Consider China for example, the government once made strict limits on the international trade because it thought this policy could protect our domestic industry from competing with the foreign companies. However, this conservative policy turned out to invalid and our domestic economy was in fact impeded by this policy since it is hard for us to make use of the foreign investment and advanced technologies. Then in order to catch up with the developed countries, our government innovated to be open up to the outside which leads today' s prosperity in China.

From the above analysis, mistakes, though may bring negative effects in the short term, are in fact cherish treasure which can benefit individual, community and country in the long run.
