No.1 issue159 PP3 40min 砍啦砍啦砍啦啊~~~~
Issue 159 "The human mind will always be superior to machines because machines are only tools of human minds." (PP3 590words/ 599words after revised)
In modern society with the fabulous【该用副词,看过谁也这么用过?哪里的句子?】 rapid development of science and technology, people feel more convenient 【我觉得这个feel convenient有问题】than before to deal with various problems with the help of advanced modern machines. Although machines make much contribution in saving time and energy for human beings, they can never play a superior role than human beings, in that they are the production of human minds and serve as the assistants for human.
For a start, it is the nature of machines that determines that they can only controlled by human beings and could not surpass human minds. 【nature这个点找的不错】Historically, normal machines, invented in the first Industrial Revolution, are the production of the creative thinking of human minds. For many centuries, machines serve as human's assistants and could not work without human's operation. For instance, although a calculator can make numerous calculations, it could not work if the program of it is dismissed or it is lack of electricity; although the huge machines in construction can lift tons of stuffs to a high building, they should be driven by human beings; although sophisticated equipments in the hospital could help doctors exanimate diseases immediately, they could not carry out operations independently but should be under doctors' controls. What machines do is to help people solve the problems and verify the result speedily so that people can save a lot of time and energy which may be indispensable and wasteful in a large project. In short, they are just helpers of human beings, who are the real dominant ones in the society.【现象是论述的不错,但是感觉nature这个点挖掘的不够】
Moreover, another character of machine, that is, they will never possess the ability of thinking and imaging as human beings, also determines that human are always superior to machines.【强调一下think和imagine是人类superior的重要条件,所以这里的determine应该给thinking和imaging】 Although the competition between the Dark Blue 【我怎么记得是Deep Blue?】from IBM cooperation and a famous chess player 【Kasparov】has aroused many issues about whether machines could take the place of human beings, carefully scrutiny demonstrates that they could never replace human's work, for the reason that they are just at advantage in calculating and being vigorous all the time, but not the thinking and reasoning of minds. In addition, the program of Dark Blue is also accomplished by human beings, which means, the competition is practically between human selves. Another example in point is that in the realm of art, although some advanced software such as PhotoShop could disposal a lot of pictures and images, painters’ sensitivity and aptitude of colors could never be replaced by machines. Thus, machines, which could merely work under established program and process, are still inferiors than human beings.
Admittedly, machines has vastly promoted the efficiency and solved numerous problems that humans could not manage independently, such as several billions times calculating in one second, extensively irrigating of the fields and so forth. If these works are distributed to people, it will take a lot of time and human resource to develop it. However, it does not necessarily mean that machines are superior to people but virtually means the creation and intelligence of human minds. It is the specifically nature of human beings that created various advanced machines, constructed the society and made the world a convenient and comfortable place for people to enjoy.
In conclusion, although during the process of industrial producing and agricultural cultivating and many other fields, machines contribute a lot in help human beings solve problems and vastly enhance the efficiency, their nature that they must accomplish their work under human's controls makes me firmly believe that human being are so smart, creative and brilliant that they will always be in a superiors position during the development of society.
【还可以,nature可以多深入一点。深蓝的例子交代的不清。下面给你关于深蓝和KASPAROV的内容吧。】
In 1996 IBM challenged Garry Kasparov, the reigning world chess champion, to a chess match with a supercomputer called Deep Blue. The computer had the ability to compute more than 100 million chess positions per second. In a 1997 rematch Deep Blue defeated Kasparov, becoming the first computer to win a match against a reigning world chess champion with regulation time controls. Many experts predict these types of parallel processing machines will soon surpass human chess playing ability, and some speculate that massive calculating power will one day replace intelligence. Deep Blue serves as a prototype for future computers that will be required to solve complex problems. At issue, however, is whether a computer can be developed with the ability to learn to solve problems on its own, rather than one programmed to solve a specific set of tasks.
Deep Blue and Garry Kasparov Deep Blue, the screen of which is seen here as the computer plays chess against Garry Kasparov in 1997, is an IBM supercomputer that uses scalable parallel processing to solve complex problems. Deep Blue uses 256 processors working together to calculate between 50 and 100 billion chess moves in under three minutes. Real world applications of computers like Deep Blue include forecasting the weather, drug and genetics research, designing clean-up plans for toxic waste, and powering web servers on the Internet. |
