'Of the two leading real estate firms in our town—Adams Realty and Fitch Realty—Adams is clearly superior. Adams has 40 real estate agents. In contrast, Fitch has 25, many of whom work only part-time. Moreover, Adams' revenue last year was twice as high as that of Fitch, and included home sales that averaged $168,000, compared to Fitch's $144,000. Homes listed with Adams sell faster as well: ten years ago, I listed my home with Fitch and it took more than four months to sell; last year, when I sold another home, I listed it with Adams, and it took only one month. Thus, if you want to sell your home quickly and at a good price, you should use Adams.'

Before recommend people who want to sell home quickly and at a good price to turn to Adams, the evidence given in the argument should be examined from several other angles. It seems that the argument draw too hastily that Adams can ensure the price and efficiency without have an insightful look.

First of all, the argument assumed that Fitch is inferior from the merely fact that it has less agents and many of whom work only part-time. Yet, large quantity does not mean high quality. The superiority in quantity does not necessarily mean that Adams can provide more professional service. Moreover, comment sense tells us that the more agents a firm has, the harder for it to ensure the quantity of each agent. So it is entirely possible that few agents of Adams can meet the customs' need while almost every Fitch's agent can.

What is more, it seems to me that the arguer's contrast of Adams and Fitch makes no sense. Perhaps the more efficient work in Adams due to the development of technology such as Internet and mobile phone, which is not available ten years ago. If it is the case, in a not dissimilar way, the efficiency of Fitch has developed a lot or even surpassed the Adams' during the ten years. Besides, even if the efficiency of Fitch was not optimistic ten years ago, it does not necessarily mean that the service in Fitch nowadays is bad. Perhaps, it has introspected and improved its service by sending its workers to professional courses or employing more skilled workers. Accordingly, perhaps the arguer can sell out his home in less than one month if he turns to Fitch.

In addition, there is no persuasive evidence to suggest that Adams can ensure a good price.  The author points out that Adams' average home sale is greater than Fitch's. However, it may due to the fact that the homes that Adams sells are more valuable on average than those Fitch sells, not that Adams is more likely to sell a good price. If so, provided an identical home, it is entirely possible that Fitch can sell a better price than Adams.

In conclusion, the argument is unconvincing as it stands. Thus it is not wise for people to take the author's recommendation without better evidence that Adams is more efficient and can ensure a good price.
