第一帖,先使劲砸砸,消消心中怒气再说。

5、"A nation should require all its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college rather than allow schools in different parts of the nation to determine which academic courses to offer."  [已自查过一遍]


In college, those  curriculums available are  determined by college administrators and  always updated frequently for the increasing  requirement. As one before college, basic education need not to change so often, but I think that to let local schools determine curriculums and  their own way to  teach will benefit students much more than using same curriculum  nation wide.   

The statement obviously ignores the  diversity of basic education in the different parts of nation. To a nation, for example, there are many kinds of people, which say different languages, use different  characters,  and receive their own traditional education. Although the great development of society and its economy make parts of nation connected together, courses about their culture, especially language, are still on their basic education while other states may not include unless some academic reaches need or interest. Different conditions of districts pose different  emphasis of knowledge and skill on their students, and then change the offering of courses including the methods of teaching.

On the student level, it is not wise to require all students to study the same material. Basic education provides learner opportunity to gain training on basic skills such as logic, writing, and communicate. There are many ways to reach the purpose, not merely through curriculum determined by nation educators. Not all students can benefit much from the standard curriculum, and other tentative classes induced by local departments or schools may compensate for the points. Moreover, main purpose of some local schools is sending their students to professional colleges. Then art-oriented school may pay much attention to music and painting courses; sport-oriented school may concentrate on basketball and swimming courses. These curriculums decided by teachers, professors or local administrators help students to easily learn more and enhance their professional skills for further education.

However, if these entire curriculums are determined by this way, the significant distinction of quality of same level education among nation parts will be inevitable. It will bring difficulty for nation administrators to estimate and manager the quality of basic education in a whole country range. So is the college committee who choose the qualitative candidates. Potential unfair analysis and decision will occurs when there is no an effective criterion to identify. As national administrator, one should direct and guide the education development in all parts of the country. They cannot, also impossibly, determine curriculum that all students must study, but can show outstanding and useful specimen curriculum and outline requirement in school education.

On balance, it is significant to let local educators to determine curriculum, which do good to study and development of student before college.
