To begin with, in the realms of politics, the study of the past will be a reference for the contemporary politicians when making determines. Some of the big deals in the history will be excellent lessons for the politicians to avoid them mislead the country to an incorrect direction. A good example is the Institutional Revolution that happened decades ago in China. At that time, the leaders overlooked the importance of the economy and education, but paid too much emphasis on the struggle between classes, which caused a total chaos and impeded the development of the country seriously. Fortunately, the leaders realized their fault in time and promptly attracted the attention of the public to the economy advancement, which woke up the progress of the society. This period of history is apparent a good lesson for the leaders and displays to them what is the most important to a country, which is of great value.

In addition, in the field of environmental protection, the research of the past also provides much information to prevent people from making mistakes again. In the human history, since the ignorance of the people, they have done quite a lot of wrongs to the nature, which is inevitable to convert and they also suffered plenty of disasters from the nature. For instance, the Industry Revolution not only brought an extraordinary prosperity to England, but also made a basis for the horrific tragedy/calamity later. As the huge disafforestation and the vast use of the firewood, the carbon dioxide increased dramatically in the air, which resulted to the acid rain, a kind of rain that destroyed a lot of agricultural products and even the significant buildings. This lesson indicated that the forests are playing a crucial role in the nature and they should be well protected by the human beings.

There also other facet from which people could learn a lot from the predecessors. Such as the cooperation of the primitive to hunter for food, it can also convey some information to the contemporary life. Although the technology is quite superior (advanced) to that of the past, however, numerous projects are so sophisticated that they cannot completed by individuals but need for the collaboration of the people. Therefore, the cooperation spirit of the primitive is also valuable.

Admittedly, some of the understanding of the past has little value for the guidance of the present life. Such as the assumptions of them to explain the phenomena of the nature, which were ridiculous to the present people and the cultures at that time are also of no use if being placed to the contemporary society.

To sum up, the history ceaselessly offers valuable information to the human beings, which help them to advance little by little.
