Attributing to the theory of Darwin, natural selection, the stronger and the more intellective is survived while the losers drop out of the gene pool. Our human is no different. Nowadays, everyone can deny the fact that the competition is increasingly compelling and thus the successful people are those keeping in mind of well-developed sense of it. The leaders in politics get on in this society for status individually and nationally; the manages in companies run out of their wit and experience for the maximized profits; the runners in the 100 meter race burst out of their energy for the gold medal; and thousands of average people have to compete for better job opportunities and higher salaries day and night. In short, it is undeniable that competition drives us forward to a more modern and civilized society and higher living standards.

However, in this globalized society, a sense of cooperation becomes an increasingly populized merit of a person, especially for the youths since they are the future leaders. Any young men can look no further at the demands for an employee in most companies that besides the professional skills, the sense of teamwork is another highlighted merit in that in this age of technology and information explosion, one seldom accomplishes a piece of task depending on one's own ability. At the same time, getting on well with the workmates will improve not only the enjoyment at work but also the efficiency. Additionally, to be an effective leader, one should learn to arouse the potential capacity and enthusiasm of the inferiors. Although the leaders should be competitive in the businesses with others, what the inferiors need is the encouragement and awards from the superiors. After all, these inferiors consist most of a company and accomplish the most tasks as whole.

Meanwhile, the globalized society needs the cooperation of the leaders to solve the most persisting social problems. In other words, without neglecting the dissimilarities among the countries and arming together, a country cannot face these problems alone or even lose a lot. A piece of the pie can indicate this. Both sides fighting for the pie continuously won't gain a gram of the pie when it comes time to divide it. It will explain that even the strongest country, U.S.A., when facing the terrorism, is short of hands and is searching for the assistance from all  the world. Besides this, the epidemic of AIDS, the right-directed development of the global economy, the global smuggle of the drugs, all above need the cooperation from all nations.

In sum, after the competition has dominated in the evolvement of human society for thousands of years, modern world becomes more and more welcome of the cooperation. And for the young, to be leaders, the deserved merit of cooperation with others will be better competitive with the growing limited resources and the adverse society.

这里我觉得关于cultivation好象不必说，我的想法是先谈下competition的好处，然后再转到其坏处上进而引出cooperation的。

In this era full of competition and challenge, it has been emphasized that the leaders of each area should have a well-developed sense of competition. However, in my opinion, competitive as the leaders should be, the sense of cooperation can also help them to succeed in the competition.

In the first place,  the ability of cooperation is crucial to unite the whole group, which is the fundamental requirement for a leader. If a leader cannot fully inspire the desire of his collaborators, the ability of the group cannot be fully utilized.  If a leader cannot handle the relationship among the group, the discontent and quarrel will reduce the effect of teamwork. The worst case will be that the team will collapse and fail to achieve the success. To understand this, one should look no further than the case of Kobe, a basketball superstar in the NBA game.  Kobe is one of the most genius basket players in the world and he has achieved three champions with the other players in the Lakers. However, as one of the leaders of Lakers, last year Kobe failed to cooperation well with his coach and another superstar Shaq O'neal which led to the broken-up of the team later. As a consequence, this season Kobe and Lakers suffers one of the most painful failure in the history without the former teammates.

In the second place, cooperation could help to win the competition with stronger opponents. In the Second World War, Germany obtained such a strong army that it seemed very hard to beat it. However, the leaders of U.S.A, England, and Soviets Union decide to make cooperation to beat Germany together. Without cooperation, the War could not end so quick, the three countries would bear more loss, and the result of the War might even be quite different.
