In today's modern society,which is characterized by the high spead changing market place accompanied by the technology advancement,there is a growing concern among people about which skills should be attached more significance.The title statement that the society failed to place enough emphases on the intellect such as reasoning and other cognitive skills.As far as I am concerned I am side with the speaker for reasons listed as following.

To begin with is the fact that the intellect capacity is crucial for our modern person to even survive. In the so called information era every person often get a feeling of information over-load. Without the ability to judge the credibility of the information in front of us and select out the useful inform no one can be confused and have a vague image as what to do and where to go.For instance the numerous TV channels and the internet each day provide us with infinite advertisement and chooses,if the spector has no sense in reasoning and cognitive skills to judge which commodity or which program is worth his or her money or her time in the end he or she may be misleading to buy something unsuitable or waste the precious time.Furthermore there is even more dangerous once the punblic are deficient with the reasoning and congnitive skills when it come to the president election.As a country'head the president no doubltly would exert the most significant influence on the public so it must be cautious when elect a president candidates.However history is replented with the president who is of negative effect on the punblic but had been elected,Aldolf Hitler is a case in point.The reason for this kind of person being elected is obviously that they can make demagogue speech to apeal to the public' emotion.And if the public failed to use their intellect to think over,he or she may run the risk of choose the inapropriate candidate.

However the significance of intelect the society is often failed to place enough emphasis on it.This point can be aptly demonstrate in our school education system.The nowadays education system, which is characterized by the standard examination,often mis-leading the teacher and the students in to the wrong object.Often the students,in order to achieve a high GPA point,adopt any  short cut in study and dose not want to waste their time to think any thing beside their curriculum,and the teacher often provide the students volumion of  documents of doctrine for rote study while failed to cultivate their students'cognitive skills.Furthermore the phenomenon also including in the work place.Empirical experiences inform us that the employees are often obey their aderministor's command literally and do not use their mind to think out better ways to complete the same aim.

Actually these phenomen whether in the education realm and in the work place  is based on the same reason that is the people invoved often do not want to run the risk,which is either fail in the exam or loss their job.This reason is further relies on the reason that is society does not place enough emphases on the intellect by failed to encourgh people to think and cognitive.

In sum I am side with the speaker.

In the argumet the arguer contend that the reason for the earth's suddenly cooler in the mid-sixth century was probably caused by a volcanic eruption.To substantiate the contention the arguer cite a series of documents recorded in that time and ruled out the other reason of cooling by the collision of a large meterorite.However several fallacies render this contention not persuasive as it stands.

To begin with is that the contention is made on the assumption,which is still have to prove,that the extremely cold temperatures is caused by the dimming of the sun based on the co-existent of the two phenomenon.However it is obviously that there are still many other factors that can also lead the the extremely cold temperatures other than dimming of sun.Without ruling out other factors that may also result in the extremely cold temperatures the arguement can not be convicing.

Assuming that it is the dimming of the sun that result in the extremely cold temperatures there is still problems in the argument that in the argument the arguer only mentioned two reason for the dimming of the sun.It seems from the argument there is no alternative reason for the dimming.Empirical experiences inform us that other factors such as the smoke from a large scale forest fire can also render the dimming of the sun.So the arguer have to rule out the possiblity of other reason for the dimming.

Finally the arguer simply rule out the possiblity of the large meteorite collision  by the weak fact that no extant historical records of the time metnion such a flash accompany the large meteorite collision,which is unconvicing.Perhaps there was a bright flash of light occured on that time but no one had seen it or had got any impression on the people seen it or perhaps some one saw the flash and consequently recorded it but the recorder have not yet been founded by the historians.Further more the arguer confirm the volcanic eruption assumption on the bases of recorded loud boom consistent with a volcanic eruption is also unpersuasive.Perhaps the recorded volcanic eruption was actually a small one that can not lead to the world wide dimming of the sun.With ruling out this senerio this argument is also unconvincing.

In sum this contention made by the arguer is unconvicing unless the arguer can rule out these possibilities disscused above.And erect a cautial relationship between the volcanic eruption and teh cold temperatures.
