issue 210 职业选择, 还3天,大家给拍拍(另,考后留守一周,专职拍人)
Issue210: 532 words
Most people choose a career on the basis of such pragmatic considerations as the needs of the economy, the relative ease of finding a job, and the salary they can expect to make. Hardly anyone is free to choose a career based on his or her natural talents or interest in a particular kind of work.
There is much controversy about the existence of freedom to find work according to one's interest and natural talent, because most people prefer a job with better material condition to a one taking satisfaction to one's interest. In my point of view although when people are choosing careers they take the need of the economy into account, there are still a myriad of works can be chosen based on one's innate talent and interest.
Admittedly, in our society, before choosing a job most people will consider the need of economy. Although every occupation is needed by the society, not all of them gain equal evaluation by the people. Some of jobs are needed immediately such as the lawyer, the surgeon, the engineer by the market, which leads to the fact that they can bring high rewards for people. When people are choosing job, they inevitably tend to select them for these occupations will provide them with better living condition and enhance their material enjoyment. What is more, nowadays, the income of job is generally considered as a measure of success. So every one, who has spirit to pursue success will prefer to these occupation even regardless their innate interest. And even before entering the job market, they had chosen their majors such as law , computer engineering, or medical science to prepare themselves for these careers with”practical use”.
‘
However, the pragmatic consideration is not the only reason driving people to select their occupations. It is true that the higher reward can attract most people pushing into mainstream jobs market, nevertheless it is arbitrary to judge that these engineers, surgeons, scientist, businessmen and so on are just doing their jobs in which they have no talent and personal interests. In fact, in most cases the pragmatism can be consistent with the job based on self-interests. We can look no future than thousands of technicians in Silicon Valley, who do not only join occupations with highly economic reword but also live in their interest to make prominent contribution for society or challenge technological difficulties. In this sense, a job based on pragmatic consideration can also serve people with the satisfaction to one's impulse of nature. .
What is more, not all of jobs will meet people's need of economy and fulfill their pragmatic expectation, but there are still a groups of people would rather choose these occupations only according to individual curiosity than only yield to economic hopes. As a matter of fact, it is not hard for them to find these interested jobs which, although can not provide them with considerable incomes, will at least prevent them from starvation and provide basic living conditions. For example, people bitten by travel bug do not encounter much difficulty in enjoying their particular interest through a job in the travel industry. The lover of nature can also engage in their curiosity through an occupation concerning the protection of environment. In short, there are a great number of jobs, though without high income, can provide people with basic living condition and, most significant of all, satisfaction to overriding desire. .
In sum, the freedom to choose job according to interest and talent is endowed to every one and only the one who is the slave of the pragmatism will discard these right as well as their interest and innate natural of themselves. |
