Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Universities should give the same amount of money to their students' sports activities as they give to their university libraries. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion
As the economy’s rapid development, many universities now have more money to dominate themselves, but this also triggers a conflicting question, that is, should the universities give the same amount of money to their students’ sports activities as they give to their university libraries? I am of the opinion, that university should treat both equally. The reasons are listed as follows.
First of all, both students’ sports activities and university libraries are important to the growth of the university students. With the sports activities, university students could keep much more healthy and maintain good shape, and also accompanying with the competition in the sports events, students would learn more about how to deal with the pressure and how to behave well in the competition. It is very helpful when they finish the university and step into the complicated society. On the other hand, university libraries are the ideal place for students to study. For instance, when I was in the university, I would like to study in the library because of its quietness and richness in different kinds of materials. You can check out almost everything you want in the library, and when you are desired to find something in the internet, the library is your best choice.
Furthermore, to give the same amount of money to the sports activities and university libraries is also beneficial for the university in the long run. Nowadays, every university in China desires to be a comprehensive university, to achieve this goal, each university should develop equally in every side. Universities are not only the places to learn knowledge, but also a miniature of the complicated society. Because of this, every student in the university should learn how to survive in this small society, in order to achieve this, all that the university should do is to support the students’ activities and to provide a good place for them to study. For example, during my stay in the university, my university held two big sports events every year and several other activities to lower the students’ pressure and free them from the busy work, and also the university spent a lot of money to buy different kinds of magazines, newspapers and academic periodicals, not only it riches our leisure life, but it does a lot of help to our study.
With all discussed above, to pay equal attention to the students’ sports activities and the construction of the library not only does well to the growth of the university, but benefits the construction of the university in the long run. It is a win-win situation. I am inclined that, therefore, the university should give the same amount of money to the students’ sports activities as that given to the library.
