[i习作temp] issue52 同主题,写了半天,希望大家不吝赐教,保证有拍必回! [复制链接]

52"Education encourages students to question and criticize, and therefore does little to promote social harmony."

1.        Education encourages students to question and criticize,
2.        The ability of questioning and criticizing benefit social harmony
3.        Education promotes social harmony, too much questioning and criticizing should be shunned.


There are many people assert that education fosters students the ability of questioning and criticizing, which is not benefit for promoting social harmony. Is that the truth? Do they mean that it is education’s fault to encourage students to question the authority then present their own opinions, and criticize the error viewpoint then correct it, which is somewhat heterodoxy and does some harm for social harmony? As a matter of fact, it is ridiculous, isn’t it? In my opinion, it’s just the ability of questioning and criticizing which is the main target of education that makes social more harmonious and flourish.

Generally speaking, every school or college should educate students to be used to questioning and criticizing, which always facilitate students engender constructive and created idea, and this sparking idea will make for development of themselves and progress of the whole society in the end. For example, Newton, an outstanding scientist, when he was young, liked to ask question that everyone may neglect so that people look him as a simpleton then. Nevertheless, it just this spiritual of always questioning make him think out the law of gravity, and make him be a grandeur scientist. For example, Copernicus, a great astronomer, who graduated from a college that was full of feudal religion. If he did not question and criticize the theory of the earth’s core which has been hold for a long time, people at present would not know the structure of universe accurately. And then, can one safe to assert we are in a harmonious society of science?(伽利略、比萨斜塔、重力实验也可以用吧?怎么说呢?)How important the habit of questioning and criticizing is!Consequently, it is useful and the education’s responsibility to cultivate students’ habit of questioning and criticizing.      

Furthermore, the ability of questioning and criticizing benefit social harmony in the long run. Just thinking that everyone consider that our life is well enough then there is no need for us to invent new thing, doubt so-called authority, and no courage to criticize the father’s wrong idea(after all, no one has no fault.) what a terrible aftermath if the situation like that! Each person being consistent with forerunner, is there any advancement in the human long history? Absolutely not! No inventers, no advance. It is unimagined that there is no invent of bulb by Einstein’s ceaseless questioning everything around him, if so, we all live in the dark, then the world would be not so lovely and colorful. Therefore, it’s obvious that society would develop harmoniously and smoothly under the help of some people’s habit of questioning and criticizing.

As for analysis above, Education encouraging students to question and criticize will greatly promote social harmony. However, we must realize that too much question and criticizing may trap person in the embarrassed of cynic which impairs the development of the society to some extend. Thus, we should shun the things too much.

In short, it is maybe hasty to assert that education of questioning and criticizing does little to promote the social harmony. On contrast, it is powerful force driving our society boom if we make good use of it.
