The following appeared in a letter to the editor of the Walnut Grove town newspaper.
"Walnut Grove's town council has advocated switching from EZ Disposal (which has had the contract for trash collection services in Walnut Grove for the past ten years) to ABC Waste, because EZ recently raised its monthly fee from $2,000 to $2,500 a month, whereas ABC's fee is still $2,000. But the town council is mistaken; we should continue using EZ. EZ collects trash twice a week, while ABC collects only once. Moreover, EZ-which, like ABC, currently has a fleet of 20 trucks-has ordered additional trucks. Finally, EZ provides exceptional service: 80 percent of respondents to last year's town survey agreed that they were 'satisfied' with EZ's performance."

This letter suffers from several logical false as following:

To begin with, the speaker's claim rests on the support that the EZ collects trash twice a week while the ABC only once. At first glance, this seems to support the speaker's contention firmly. However, after scrutiny on the information, it is ungrounded. The speaker fails to consider the fact that whether it is enough for the town with only one time trash collection every week. If it is, then the EZ's two time's collections per week are redundant and actually waste the residents' money. Without considering this possibility, the speaker could not claim continuing use of EZ.

Furthermore, the fact that EZ adding 20 more trucks still could not support the speaker's contention. In fact, it is entirely possible that the EZ company in order to extend its business, adds 20 more trucks, and using all the trucks to serve at least more than one town except Walnut Grove town at the same time, and then the average numbers of trucks serving for every town are fewer than before. If so, it is not wise to continue using EZ.

Finally, the speaker tries to lend support from the survey to which 80 percent respondents agreed that they were satisfied with EZ's performance last year. However, the representative of the survey is dubious. What is the base amount of the respondents? The smaller the number is , the less reliable the survey is. Where did these respondents live in the town? Perhaps, they all lived in one community of the town, and EZ's service was only satisfied by this community. In addition, even if the survey could represent the town's residents' thought, it could only substantiate that they are satisfied with EZ's last year's performance, but show no evident that the residents are willing to pay the additional fee this year. Thus, I could not be convinced by this survey.

In conclusion, to better evaluate the speaker's recommendation, I need more convincing evident and information.

我觉得开头不应该论述具体的逻辑错误，应该写一个统领全文的句子去概括下文你要说得错误，但是好像argu也没什么中心可写呀，反正挺矛盾的，唉我也搞不动了

顶你一下,今天我练习时也尝试这样的开头,原来把论据罗列一遍,写个开头要10分钟,搞得我后面都没时间了,现在索性这样,后面多攻击, argument有史以来第一次限时突破500......爽!

肯定不要学着280那么写，能写完写好文章才怪
但个人认为那么写确实是太冲了，其实每一篇argument都大致有两到三步的一个推理过程，可以用简单的语言先交代一下这个过程, 然后简略的交代你要批判的逻辑错误，就像Issue一样领起下文
比如17，按你的思路：
In this argument, although EZ charge 500 dollars more, author prefer EZ over ABC to offer trash collection service, because of its advantages--such as more frequent collecting and extra truck order. However, due to the absence of information about the real need of the city and the suspectable survey, the author fails to convince me that the extra money spend on trash collection service is necessary.
下面是正文段落，把在文章宏观逻辑中扮演相同角色的错误归并，让文章有条理
To begin with, without any substantial evidence about the city's real need of trash collection service, it is impossible to evaluate the author's recommendation that EZ is superior to ABC. Because both more frequent servince and extra truck order are likely to be not necessary at all for the city.
