The suggestion for all nations to support a global university designed for the purpose of dealing with the persistence social problems by producing? students specialized in relating fields (Who says????)sounds admirable at first glance. However, by examining the functions of university and the ongoing processes of higer eduction, I would reckon that the fancy of global university is unpractical and needless in solving the worldwide difficult matters.
First consider the function of a university, certain notion that is widely accepted as a contributor of necessary training for individuals wishing to enter professional future careers, is unrealistic expectations in the so-called global university owing to the limitation of it. The primary obstacle that prevents the global university from providing adequate trainings to students lies in the adminstrative and political side. Choosing curriculum, for instance, may be quite a debate among nations. Developed countries might protest against underdeveloped nations demands on agronomy to shake off poverty , while the latter would inevitably ignore the technology of reduce contaminant discharge by automobiles. Ultimately, the divarications may impede the university to provide comprehensive courses and temper the original intention of education. Additionally, a great deal of world's famous universities open wide to the international students, which enable multitude of young persons, keen, openhearted, sympathetic, and observant, come together and freely enjoy the veritas. The students with such an multicultural education background, as an American senior chemists once said to me, are more likely to be the leaders in their generation and play a significant part in impressing the world.
Furthermore, the endeavor of solving the world's annoying and urging social problem at international level is indispensable. Compared with relocating all the contemporary educational resources to abet a new educational institution, cooperation and communication between nations on the bases of the current higer education possess more merits, more convenience, as well as less squander. This kind of cooperation is proved to be feasible and has been accepted among many nations.
