There is no doubt that normally parents are the best teachers. It lies in that parents are the earliest communicators of the children and they stay together for the longest time and children always believe what their parents aid. All in all, parents have a marvelous influence on their sons or daughters.
To start with, children stay with parents just after they were born. From then on, parents begin to talk with them as well as tease them. As the children grow up, parents enjoy teaching them simple letters, reading fantasy stories for them and helping them acquaint with the surroundings. What the parents say and do can surely leave a deep and long-lasting impression in the children’s mind, which is difficult to change even when they grow up and get old. For instance, when I was still a little girl, my mother always told me that a lady should be independent for all her life rather than depending on any man. That’s why I have formed a habit of thinking by myself and making my own decisions. Mother’s remarks will accompany with me for ever. Furthermore, before children live by themselves or get married, it is parents who have stayed for the longest time with them. Such a long time inevitably enhances the influence of parents to children. Parents’ behavior always leads to children’s behavior. No wonder there is an old and prevailing saying that ‘Like father, like son.’ Children learn from parents through their actions, conversations, attitude to life and the world and so forth. In the end, we can infer what one’s parents are look like from the acquaintance of this person. Lastly but not the least, children believe parents much more than any other friends or relatives. Perhaps that is because ‘Blood is thicker than water.’ When they find other’s view is collided with that of their parents, they cannot help but think for twice and make a conclusion that parents are always right. That’s the fundamental cause of parents’ ability to be the best teachers.
Although most parents can be said to be the best teachers, there still exist children abandoned by parents or with parents who are too busy to tend them every day. In these cases, how could the parents have the chance to be the best teachers?
In conclusion, as parents are the first windows of children to view the society, children’s longest accompanies and most trusted people, they are reasonable to be called the best teachers.:):):)
4) It has been said, "Not everything that is learned is contained in books." Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?
It is obviously true that not everything that is learned is contained in books. We could also acquire large amounts of information from our own experience. Nevertheless, books are still the most fundamental and efficient way to study. The reasons are listed as follows.
First and foremost, books are the precious and valuable conclusions of our brilliant ancestors’ experiences as well as thoughts. Without the great and glorious scientists and artists, such as Edison, Einstein, Van Gogh and so forth, never could we go so far in the development process of our technology and ideology. The later generations could scarcely compare with them to make so marvelous contributions to our human being. Thanks to the books, we can obtain and understand their ideas quickly and efficiently, and void doing the same research.
In the second place, since books contain the overall knowledge and information of the inventions, innovations, discoveries and masterpieces for the long history, we can learn whatever we want in a pretty short time and share ample related resources and materials. Just imagine, if there were no books, everything had to be done by ourselves from the very beginning, hence when could we invent the planes, shuttles, computers and various advanced machines, not to say the drawings and music? The integral and systematic characteristics of books make sure the continuity of our society’s development.
Eventually, we cannot deny that there are quantities of things we could not learn merely from books, and we must experience and appreciate the real meaning on our own, the skills to communicate with neighbors and friends, the ability to manage a company or a group, and how to love which is inevitable in our life. It is the real truth that personal experience is vital and essential, but every individual has his specific experience and we surely do not undergone the same experiences as our ancestors, thus we need books to record and chronicle learning and beliefs.
On the whole, books and experience both play an immense role in our learning, nonetheless, books are more important as they are the collections of numerous predecessors’ experiences, ideas, views, thoughts, inventions, and the list will go on. We could never live conveniently and develop smoothly without books’ aids.:):):)

Nowadays movies and television are getting more and more popular, especially with teenagers and the old. And therefore, they have been influencing people's behavior in many ways.
Undoubtedly, we have benefited from movies and television for a long period. For one thing, they are much more inviting as well as interesting than books thanks to the vivid scenes and harmonious music. As a result, we may have the chance of broaden vision and obtain knowledge in the process of relaxing and enjoying fun. What’s more, movies and television always usher in a modern trend of language, clothes and topics. For instance, after the movie ‘The Sound of Music’ was shown all over the world, its fantastic music began known and sung by the young and the old. Finally, movies and television promote the communication among human. When one’s thoughts and ideas over the life or certain phenomenon are expressed in the form of movies, they become easy and natural to understand and accept. If we could make all the mathematics and physics formulas and theorems explained in flash or television, children would no longer have to suffer from the boring classes.
As the proverb goes, each coin has two sides. Similarly, movies and television also have several disadvantages. They inevitably do harm to the watchers’ health. For example, people gradually
fall into the habit of watching television after work and study all day instead of taking some exercise. Not only the consumers’ eyes may be damaged by the radiation of television, but also the fat population increases and consequence all kinds of diseases come to disturb us.

After pondering this question on many occasions, I finally reached the opinion that university students should be required to attend classes. Generally speaking, classes are necessary and beneficial to almost every student, which can be supported by the following reasons.
In the first place, attending classes can help learners obtain the most abundant and systematic knowledge in the shortest time, for the teachers are always full of experience and advanced in the fields. If we are eager to know the exact structure of a sophisticated organic compound, it is necessary and useful for us to read more than ten books, whereas the organic chemistry teacher can help us solve the problem quickly and easily. This way of study can save plenty of time and benefit us at most.
In the second place, attending classes can aid students form a scientific and reasonable study habit, which is essential all the students’ life even after their graduation. When we study by ourselves, we usually have difficulty in concentrating on the books and may be easily conquered by our laziness which is common to individual students. If the teachers had not given us any homework and there were no exams, most students obviously would not study so hard. The science and technology is developing much faster than normal people can imagine. When college students step into the society, they will inevitably face with a great deal of new knowledge and skills. At this time, the feature that determines who can win is not the knowledge one has obtained, but the speed and ability to acquire update technology. Hence terrific study habits can not be lacked.
Eventually, attending classes provides students a perfect chance to communicate with others and discuss the problems they have met with. Nowadays teamwork spirit and cooperation ability are used to evaluate a worker in every company. For instance, one person alone is impossible to invent a shuttle, but only with many people’s mutual efforts can it be realized.

There is no doubt that everyone prefers enjoying life and doing things they feel satisfied, reliable, relaxing and meaningful. Nevertheless, life is just like a box of chocolates, and you never know which chocolate you are going to bite. Life is not always sweet and smooth, thus I absolutely agree that people should sometimes do things that they do not enjoy doing.
We may look into every possible reason, however, the foremost reason is that we human being have to survive in this sophisticated and complex society and support our family. No two persons think and act exactly the same. In too many cases, we have to do things we do not enjoy doing to satisfy other people, to promote our work going on as well as to acclimatize ourselves to the crucial environment. For instance, adults do not enjoy get up early and go to work, meanwhile, students do not enjoy attending classes, doing abundant homework and taking miserable examinations. The point is, that is just life and no one can avoid it.
Whatsoever else may be said, most of us would agree that great dreams demand great efforts. There is a noble proverb that ‘No pains, no gains.’ Never could we realize big dreams or become a respected person, if we do not do things that we do not enjoy dong. Taking Mrs. Curie as an illustration, she had worked for many years poorly and miserably before she got the Nobel Prize. Did she enjoy starving? Did she enjoy working overnight? Did she enjoy failing and failing again?
No! But for all the efforts and pains, how could she success eventually?
Last but not the least reason is that interests can be cultivated. Numerous students get disappointed at their majors when they step into the universities. With the time going on, they learn more and more about their majors, hence some students become interested in them and begin to enjoy learning the required courses. Finally, they will win in the campus, in the society, and most importantly in their life. If we can always keep a curious mind of exploring the happiness from our surroundings and the work we do, we can more enjoy life.
For all the reasons presented above, I strongly commit to the notion that people should sometimes do things that they do not enjoy doing. The best way is to learn to enjoy doing what we have to do and find the pleasure and happiness in it.:):):)

Having heard of a university’s plan of developing a new research center in our country, people fall into a fierce debate on whether it should be a center for business research or for agriculture research. As far as I am concerned, I recommend an agriculture research center, after comparing the advantages of both orientations.
To begin with, our country needs large qualities of food for the residents. As everyone knows, China has the largest population in the world, which is 1.3 billion, and no one need not eat or drink every day. At the present time, China is still a developing country and our science and technology remains backward, therefore, the production cannot meet the demands of all people. If we do not try all means to heighten the agriculture technology level and harvest ample products, too many people will starve to die. Furthermore, the farmers need advanced technology and modern machines to get rich and support their families. Nearly all the Chinese farmers are pretty poor due to the instable income every year, thus they usually have little to eat, not to mention sending children to high school or college. Take my aunt as an example, her family only owns a small apple orchard, and if the climate is not adequate for the farming, they will have little to harvest. In order to earn more money, her two sons have to assist them during the busy time and have no time to do their homework and read more books. Sometimes they even couldn’t afford to eat meat. Finally, the development of agriculture will aid the government to stabilize the society and develop arts. The people who have nothing to eat may be compelled to beg on the street or rob passers-by, which will result in a large safety crisis. If people did not have a comfortable life, how could they have the energy and time to think of investment on education and arts, such as music, drawing and dance?
Inevitably, a business research center also has its own particular merits. With the entrance of China to the World Trade Organization as well as the development of globalization and economy, there exists a enormous demand for the skilled business people. The research of business can direct the related departments and comprises to make proper plans and take adequate actions to found a sound and healthy market. This will undoubtedly benefit Chinese people for years.
Although the business development is both essential and vital, the advantages of developing agriculture far outweigh those of developing business. Agriculture is the foundation of a country and can never be omitted by the officials and scholars. All in all, a new agriculture center will surely do great good to our country and the people in our country.
