There is a debate over the topic that education should be designed for individuals’ needs or the whole society’s. And the speaker actually delegate the opinions of some people that education should be specifically for individuals. I contend [concede] that educating everyone at his or her will is what educators have dreamed of for a long time, but training talents for the need of the society is also the aim that schools and teachers have been sticking at. Both of these are the fundamental functions of education. So any kind of education that merely has one of the two functions cannot be regarded as ‘effective’.
Admittedly, designing education that can meet various needs of individuals is one of the principles that educators should adhere to[建议在TS里把这种教育的好处直接点出来]. As is said by Shakespeare ( and I paraphrase) “ There is a thousand of Hamlet in one thousand readers’ minds.”[个人认为这句话和这个论点有点不太搭调,它是论证每个人对作品的理解不同吧~虽然解释一下也可以和要表达的意思帖上,但感觉就不是很有力了] , different people have different needs and interests: some people have talents in mathematics, while some like literature; some like studying in group, whereas some prefer working individually[这句不错]. It is arbitrate to force a person with talents in mathematics to major in literature, and it is also arbitrate to force a gregarious person to accept teaching manners which are for one who likes to be left alone. Letting people study what they are interested in and get what they need is actually a principle that is coherent with ideas of democratic. Furthermore, education adhering to such principle can often foster experts from diverse study field.Because of their interests in a certain field, they can acquire great power which will drive them to probe deep into the field continously; because different people have different interests, experts from different fields will be fostered. And it is not unusual now to solve one problem involving with experts from different majors. For example, if a food company want to sell its newly produced food, it will adopt suggestions of experts in marketing, advertising and analyzing food safety. And these experts often come from schools that offer courses of a wide range of fields and are not confined by a single teaching manner. Therefore, even for the development of the society [这个develop的意思上面的论证没有阐述出来], it is necessary to design education for various individuals’ interets and needs.
However, the reasons stated above do not show that the speaker is correct [同样地,这个TS应该点出这段要说的具体意思:社会需求也是不能忽略的]. Firstly, it is not practical to design a kind of education for every single person’s need and interest.Limited by time ,funds, teaching plan and missions, many educators cannot afford to meet every individual’s trivial need [这段应该主要说满足社会需求吧?所以这第一点放在这里不合适。通常一段讲一个意思比较好]. Secondly, perhaps also the most important reason, education also has the other important function: training talented individuals also needed by the society.People’s trivial[这里用trivial意思是不是不太对] needs and interests often cannot delegate the society’s need. School, when at the same time satisfying its students’ needs, must make teaching plans on the country’s need. For example, China is now planning to improve the economic conditions in its western part. Countless money is invested and a large number of talented individuals are sent to the west. To response the country’s plan, universities in China every year enroll students who will be sent to work in the west when graduate. The courses of these students are specifically designed, ensuring that they will be adapt to the situation in the west. And the country’s benefits are the center around which educators make their plans. Therefore, sometimes education should also be for the development of the society.
But which is more important, personal needs or the society’s? I think they are equally important. Society consists of countless individuals. And individuals can be motivated to have enormous productivity when they form an organized group——society. Thus without society individuals cannot exist, and vice versa. So educators’ mission is not to make a decision of which is more critical [crucial], but to reach a balance between the two: let people learn what they like and society get talented individuals it need, which will be not difficult if making out advisable plan.[这段和前两段相比论证就不平衡了,应该更充分展开。没有这个会怎样?没有那个会怎样?这是一种展开的思路,仅供参考]
Finally, let us get down to fundamentals and agree that education is established for both individuals and societies. A kind of education that only satisfies one of the two has already lost the original functions with which it began. In fact, almost none of the world-famous universities merely has the single function. And only when education serves both individuals and societies, it can be regarded as “effective”.
写得不错哈,例子很多,论证有力。把第三点再展开就更好了,加油:) |
