Televisions and movies are important constituents of people’s daily entertainment. With the development of technology, people are liberated from heavy work. They are having more and more time for leisure, of which televisions and movies take up a significant part. As a result, they are playing an important part in affecting people.
One of televisions’ key functions is to tell people what is going on in the world currently, whether in the form of evening news or a fashion show. Thanks to these, people can updates their knowledge about the world all the time. Nowadays we are living in the so-called “information era”. Only by keeping your pace with the world can you survive. A particular example for this is that people who buy and sell stocks must keep track of the status of the company whose stocks they own in order to predict the trend for the stock price.
Another impact imposed by television and movies is their influence on people’s outlook. A movie is a condensation of the realistic world .The characters inside are involved with so many dramatized events which may also happen to everyone of us. Many people may do not know what to do in case those events happen. How the characters react to these events and what the result from their react is can provide a useful reference with how to deal with such abrupt matters in real life. What is more, people may probably simply copy the characters’ behaviour in real life. A good case in point is that we are inspired by those heroism movies and cultivate a deep sense of responsibility and love for out nation.
Admittedly, televisions and movies suffer from a disadvantage that they also have many negative impacts on the audience, especially on adolescents. Many irresponsible film makers make films advocating violence and eroticism. The characters inside behave badly yet still ends up with a comfortable life, which conveys the message to adolescent that one can do anything they like regardless of morality and law. Even if the adolescents do not copy their acts, their mind may be corrupted unconsciously.
In brief, televisions and movies not only offer people with information, but also affect people’s view of life. Yet it also has negative impacts on adolescents.
