Topic 14
Some people believe that university students should be required to attend classes. Others believe that going to classes should be optional for students. Which point of view do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to explain your answer.
There is an argument among people about whether university students should be required to attend certain classes, or should attending to classes be up to students’ own choice. Considering the purpose of university education is to promote students to the next step of their way to their ambition of life, it is the latter one that I prefer.
Each student has his/ her different interests in certain disciplines, and unique needs for the preparation of her/his future, even if s/he is in the same department with the others. Required classes that push every individual student into the same classrooms, and equip each one with the same knowledge and skills, do not meet such unique needs of every student. On the contrary, optional classes can provide students with a wide range of choices – choices of not only various disciplines, but also different teachers. A student can schedule his/her own curriculum according to his/her special interests and needs. And for those students who are not certain about their interests, a pool of choices could be a discovery field for them to find out what they really want.
Moreover, Chinese university students sometimes face the dilemma between their major study and their real interests and dreams. These students were not fortunate enough to be accepted by the department of the university they wanted to go, and end up getting into another department. Required classes would take up so much of their studying time that drag them away from fulfilling their dreams; or, even worse, would drain such student’s passion of study. But an education system that is full of options would grant them another chance to fight for what they really long for. A student major in education could choose some of the economics classes if what he really wants for his life is being a businessman.
这篇文章正文的前两段几乎是一个意思,就是说学生需要学更多的以确定兴趣是把?
但其他还可以写其他方面的,比如文理科就是应该互通的等等
下次写TWE还是先列提纲~~感觉你写着写着会有点散
It is true, though, that to require students to take certain classes could be easier for the university to regulate its education work, and that curriculum arranged by professional teachers could be more workable than that by the inexperienced students. However, such effects could be attained by additional services and regulations, such as providing students study counseling and assisting them with choosing classes, improving university network for the course-selection use, prescribing the minimum credits of graduation, etc.
In sum, university students should not be derived of the right to make their own choice, and of the chance to devote the critical four years of their life to make an impressive start of their own future. Optional classes would, as long as I concern, be more suitable than required classes to offer students such an opportunity.
感觉你两片文章的结尾都有点点仓促
语言上还要更地道一些
中体上不错,加油 |
