Currently there is a growing feeling towards that reading books is losing its dominant role in gaining knowledge when compares to watching television. People claims that it is in the age of high technology such as the age of television, so watching television can play the same important part, or even more than, as reading books in people’s daily learning. Although I agree with the speaker’s viewpoint, I would qualify it in several aspects.
What is most important is that this issue simply equates reading books with watching television and fails to lend any strong evidences to support that. It is a common sense that even in the highly developing society, televisions are far less portable than books for people to carry around. One can carry a book around he/she and therefore to spend a meaningful and substantial traveling with the interesting context in the book. Only when one stay in one place without moving can he/she learn something as he/she wishes because the television is so large and heavy that it could not be able to move anywhere as one wish. Meanwhile it limits the approach to learning. Experience suggests that most of our knowledge is gained form the various kinds of books that accompanying with us all along our lives. The text books in elementary school tells us that the basic knowledge which can build up something really significant in the future. The specially designed books in our universities contribute to build up our personal skills which we could live on.
However, admittedly, there is no denying the fact that the latest news we learn is from the more immediate media-the television. Under the highly developing technology society, people have a more direct way to make an access to learning. The 911 event gives a appropriate example to show that through the television people have a change to be aware of what is going on in the whole world at the same time as the people in the locale. Meanwhile, the books can only provide the abstracted information that happened in the past.
Finally, this alone that I mentioned above could not lend any strong evidence to support that reading is not as important as it once was even in the age of television. Television, which is much more controlled by the government, seldom can it tells exactly whatever happened in the modern society due to its commitment that it must be supervised by the country that it should be served for its country to show the best aspect of its country. Comparing with television, books are less controlled by anyone. Everyone has the right which will not be affected by anyone to publish a book with whatever he/she want to write and communicate the information with others who read the book. That is to say, the information in the books is original while what the television tells the audition is abstracted.
From what I discussed above, we could safely reach the conclusion that books is still playing an dominant role even in the age of television for its convince and inaction of information. Meanwhile, I appreciate the instantaneous way of learning that the televisions bring to us.

Currently there is a growing feeling(感觉?不合适) towards that reading books is losing its dominant role in gaining knowledge when compares to(compared with。Compare to把..比作...) watching television. People claims that it is in the age of high technology such as the age of television, so watching television can play the same important part(role), or even more than, as reading books in people’s daily learning. Although I agree(disagree?) with the speaker’s viewpoint, I would qualify it in several aspects(这句话没有虽然 但是的关系).

What is most important is that this issue simply equates reading books with watching television and fails to lend any strong evidences to support that. It is a common sense that even in the highly developing(developed) society, televisions are far less portable than books for people to carry around. One can carry a book around he/she and therefore to spend a meaningful and substantial traveling with the interesting context in the book. Only when one stays in one place without moving can he/she learn something as he/she wishes because the television is so large and heavy that it could not be able to move anywhere as one wishes. Meanwhile it limits the approach to learning. Experience suggests that most of our knowledge is gained form the various kinds of books that accompanying with us all along our lives. The text books in elementary school tells us that the basic knowledge which can build up something really significant in the future. The specially designed books in our universities contribute to build up our personal skills(why personal skills?) which we could live on.
Meanwhile, the books can only provide the abstracted information that happened in the past.(这一段真突兀,不如放在开头就让步一下)
Everyone has the right which will not be affected by anyone to publish a book with whatever he/she want to write and communicate the information with others who read the book. From what I discussed above, we could safely reach the conclusion that books is still playing an dominant role even in the age of television for its convince and inaction of information(我能理解,但什么叫知识的迟钝). Meanwhile, I appreciate the instantaneous way of learning that the televisions bring to us.
