TOPIC: ISSUE212 - "If a goal is worthy, then any means taken to attain it is justifiable."
WORDS: 440 TIME: 0:45:00 DATE: 2006-7-5
While facing a goal, everyone has the strong will to attain it, especially when such a goal is very worthy or meaningful to himself or herself. However, no matter what such the goal is and how meaningful it appears, the means or methodologies should obey some rules, including honesty, fidelity to their country, and the respects to others' safety and interests.
Considering its essential role, the success of one goal, especially the gold-one, people should try their best to fetch it, attain it and make it. Just have a glance on those great persons, from great scientists to successful socialists or governors. Almost all of them has made themselves some one just because their success on attaining a goal, which means a way to success. The first president of United States, Mr. Washington, has lead the Independence War to England and made his goal, a goal meaningful to the whole country and also to himself. During this war, in order to afford the huge expense on army action, he and his government rent cashes from the civilians, carried on stock in its districts, limited unnecessary expense, and also any other useful means. In some aspects, without the great financial support and other backups to their army, the history might be totally rewritten.
The similar meaningful goal and success also has happened in the scientific field. TNT, a useful explorer in both civilian and military architecture, was a excellent goal for the great scientist, Dr. Nobel. Thanks to attaining such a gold-goal, Mr. Nobel has successful earn billions of dollars and left most of them as the bonus for current important scientists-- The Nobel Prize. It is also such kind of black powder that make the modern architecture easier then ever before, successfully save thousands of human labors, and also figure out our architects much similar to the artists-- those beauty our world.
However, we should also avoid overestimating the importance of worth, even those benefit to some sets of people, not a single one. Adolf Hitler, as a example, spent all his life to broadcast the particular interests of Germany and took steps to realize them. Although those steps, of course, were attractive for a large number Germany and its whole nation, they brought so huge damage and tragedy to the whole world and our human beings that not any country will allow it happen any more. The terrible memory is such a consequence of overemphasizing the interests and worth.
Taking all account, it is the time to conclude that goals, the essential steps for a single person or the whole country, must be taken treasure to attain, but also obey some rules. |
