TOPIC: ISSUE51 - "Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."

观点:有保留的反对
提纲:
1、        满足学生的需求固然对于学生学习大有益处,但是他真的是有效的吗?
2、        正的观点,满足要求对于学生掌握知识有很大帮助
3、        反的观点,有效性究竟是对谁来说的?对于学生固然有效,但是对于社会来说却不一定
1)        现代社会功利性很强,所以很多冷门专业没有人去学,对整个社会来说不好
2)        有的学生的需求是邪恶的,不能满足

4、        反的观点,当今社会不可能全部满足学生的需求

The statement in the issue conceals the purpose of education, which is a complex problem involved the society, history, and human civilization. Undoubtedly, the satisfaction of the student will lead to better motivation to learn for them, but whether it is positive effective, which I take leave to doubt, remains a question.

First of all, there is no doubt that the learning is most efficient when it suits the appetite of the student. There is an old saying that the interest is the best teacher. When the student find something interesting, the most inherent instincts for learning arises, and he will be curiously to find the answer. All these urge him to be an active participant, making the learning process more interactive. Obtaining the answer, he will taste the sweet feeling of conquering difficulties, resulting the even more passion to learn as much as possible. Anyone who has been studying an interesting subject would have the same feeling.

However, the benefit of the so-called effective education should be well noted. Basically, the student is undoubtedly the beneficial one, but as for the society, this may not be the case. On the one hand, the society nowadays, primarily money oriented, is rather practical. As a result, many students in the university are majoring in the disciplines which will facilitate them to find an elegant job, leaving the most influential subjects such as mathematics, physics, and so on to the state which has never seen before. The society will suffer from this if the education is only student-centered. On the other hand, there exist many students whose interests are not on the knowledge but something guilty. In this situation, the education can also not satisfy the needs of them for the benefit of society.

Moreover, in reality, the education cannot meet the students' individual needs. For the statement in the issue, the precondition is the student should first know what he needs. But this always cannot happen. Take the elementary school student for example; what he wants perhaps is nothing other than playing. Also, the society nowadays is a competition one; and if all the student want to study a particular major, this cannot happen due to the lack of resources.

In conclusion, the needs of students can be satisfied only in the situation when the purpose is beneficial not only to him but also to the society. Nothing is absolute perfect, neither is the education.

自己改了一个半小时,添加了一些例子,不知道是不是好些了?

Anyone who has been studying an interesting subject would have the same feeling. Therefore, the tailored education for individual student can be rather effective to the student.

However, the beneficial object of the so-called effective education should be well noted. Basically, the student is undoubtedly the beneficial one, but as for the society, this may not be the case. On the one hand, the society nowadays, primarily money oriented, is rather practical. As a result, many students in the university are majoring in the disciplines which will facilitate them to find a profitable job. Is the education only student-centered, many other subjects such as mathematics, physics, and so on, which have lasting value to the human being and are the fundamentals of all other subjects, will be left to be uncultivated. Many years later, we may be in an embarrassing situation in which no more progress can be made as the fundamentals are not sufficient. On the other hand, there exist many students whose interests are not on the knowledge but something unhealthy or even guilty. For instance, as the advent of internet, many students in china are absorbed in the net-game which offers nothing more than temporary exciting. Some of them even play day and night. In this situation, the education can neither satisfy the needs of them for the benefit of society.

Moreover, in reality, the education cannot meet the students' individual needs for various reasons. Firstly, for the statement in the issue, the precondition is the student should first know what he needs. But this always cannot happen. Take the elementary school student for example; what he wants perhaps is nothing more than playing. This example is somewhat extreme, but as for the university student, the same situation exists. The needs cannot be identified, not to mention satisfaction. Secondly, the society nowadays is a competition one; and if all the students want to study a particular major, this cannot happen due to the lack of resources. This applies particularly to china, one of the most crowded countries in the world. Since the facilities and teachers in a particular department of a specific university are limited, stick out a mile, not all the students needs can be satisfied.

In conclusion, the needs of students can be satisfied only in the situation when the purpose is beneficial not only to him but also to the society. Nothing is absolute satisfactory, neither is the education.

Education is one of key words of modern time, and the effectiveness of it also attracts a huge amount of attention. In my opinion, when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student, whether education is effective or not depends on what the subject we are considering. As for the student, it is truly effective, but for society, it may not.

The purpose of education varies with objects. For students, education can fully equip them with wide knowledge and learning abilities for finding a good job or starting a career after graduation. A simple fact may help understand this: petrol is essential for vehicles, the more they possess, the longer distance they can travel. Likewise, education works the same way for individuals as petrol does for vehicles. Meanwhile, in respect of the society, the education can provide it with a large group of men and women who are potential pioneers in every field, resulting in the society to achieve harmony and advance in the correct direction.

When education is designed specifically to meet students’ needs and interests, their desire for learning naturally arises, and also their purpose of receiving education will be achieved. First of all, it is no doubt that students will acquire more knowledge during the learning progress if they have an appetite for it. There is an old saying that interest is the best teacher. When a student finds something very interesting but he does not understand due to limited knowledge, his most inherent instincts for learning arises, and also a series of experiments or research are likely to be conducted out of curiosity; even he fails, the passion for that still make him explore continuously. Once obtaining the answer, sweet feeling of conquering difficulties combined with confidence might result in his willingness of further study. The process of learning for him follows a kind of compound interest law. Anyone who has been studying an interesting subject would have the same feeling. In addition, a great amount of students receive education just for career purpose, thus if their needs can be satisfied, they can choose those promising majors to study and find a good job easily after graduation. Moreover, in a specific major, they can be taught with the occupation related subjects and adequately prepared for the work. Also, convinced of the importance of the job, students will try their best to learn. Therefore, education designed for the students is really effective for the learning process and job hunting of the students.

However, this student-oriented education is not very beneficial to the society, and it is not effective in terms of society effect. On the one hand, the society nowadays, primarily money oriented, is rather practical. In fact, many students in the university are majoring in the disciplines which might facilitate them to find a profitable job. Is the education only student-centered, many other subjects such as humanities, mathematics, physics, and so on, which are the fundamentals of other subjects and point the direction of human civilization, might be left to be uncultivated. As a result, possibly, we might be at lost in which direction to proceed in the future.

On the other hand, there exist many students whose interests are not on the knowledge but something unhealthy or even guilty. For instance, with the advent of internet, many students in china become addicted to the computer games which offer nothing but temporary exciting. Some of them even engage in it day and night. In this situation, if the education satisfies their needs and interests, some of them may commit crimes, damaging the harmony of the society. All the above two possibilities contradict the purpose of education.

In conclusion, if the education is designed to satisfy the needs and interests of individuals, the effectiveness of it varies from the students to the society. As a result, we need to strike a balance between them.
