Major cities, with their significant importance in politics and economy for a country, deserve to receive financial support from the government for further development. When it comes to strengthen their role as preserving and generating a nation's traditional culture, however, special financial support cannot be justified.

To begin with, in the past, before the globalization which makes most countries in the world profoundly interact with each other, major cities of a country play the key role of preserving and generating cultural traditions. There is no denying that at that time major cities were centre of politics and economy, and the rulers understood so well about the cities' importance that they distributed more resources to the construction of the cities. Numerous typical buildings that reflected the cultural characteristics of that time were created in the major cities. The Imperial Palace located at the centre of Beijing City can aptly illustrate this point. Besides, those skilled artisans would like to find a place in the big cities to earn their living since there they would have more customers than in the countryside. And also, the talented artists, erudite scholars, either for fame or for better communications with other geniuses, were inclined to live there. All of these factors can amount to the prosperity of traditional culture in the big cities.

Secondly, with the increasingly profound influence of the globalization and close communications between different countries, major cities can no longer assume the task of preserving the nation's traditional culture, let alone generating them. More and more foreign companies are entering and settling down in major cities, bringing with them their values, morality, attitudes of their own culture. Today it is common to witness in Shanghai City--the largest cities in China--a large number of buildings constructed by those transnational corporations with styles far away from the traditional ones. Besides, the ways of living of the local residents are deeply impacted by those brought about by foreigners. People, particularly the young, are more likely to gather in a cafe to drink coffee rather than have a cup of tea. And lovers tend to show affection for each other by means of roses on Valentine's Day. All of these put together have demonstrated that the boundaries of different cultures in these cities, to some extent, have vanished. Though we can not tell whether this phenomenon is positive or negative in a short time, at least we can conclude that the major cities have changed into a place of multi-culture, instead of remaining as the centre for preserving cultural traditions.

Finally, the nation can turn to countryside and small towns for maintaining traditional cultures. Paradoxically, these places used to be regard as not so civilized as the big cities. Yet it is in these places that we can find the hope of keeping the traditional cultures. On the one hand, being relatively isolated from the globalization, the residents in the countryside show more respects for the traditional cultures. They followed the established rules of marriage. They communicate with each other in a way just like their ancestors. Their conducts and words remain intact from the world outside. On the other hand, the people living in the small towns are under much less pressure compared to the residents in the big cities, thus having more leisure time to participate in traditional activities--such as traditional dances, singing, and calligraphy. It is in this way that they also contribute to the preservation of traditional cultures.

To sum up, the government can consider providing enough financial support to major cities for their economic development. But the goal should not beyond that and any steps toward keeping big cities as the places for preserving traditional cultures cannot be justified.

And also, the talented artists, erudite scholars, either for fame or for better communications with other geniuses, were inclined to live there. All of these factors can amount to the prosperity of traditional culture in the big cities.

(这里用转折关系的连词可能更好吧)Secondly, with the increasingly profound influence of the globalization and close communications between different countries, major cities can no longer assume the task of preserving the nation's traditional culture, let alone generating them. More and more foreign companies are entering and settling down in major cities, bringing with them their values, morality, attitudes of their own culture. Today it is common to witness in Shanghai City--the largest cities in China--a large number of buildings constructed by those transnational corporations with styles far (away可不用) from the traditional ones. Though we can not tell whether this phenomenon is positive or negative in a short time, at least we can conclude that the major cities have changed into a place of multi-culture, instead of remaining as the centre for preserving cultural traditions.(此段结尾是不是也该提一下不需要政府在这方面的财政支持,从而回到题目上去,更扣中心点吧)

Finally, the nation can turn to countryside and small towns for maintaining traditional cultures. Paradoxically, these places used to be (regard改为regarded) as not so civilized as the big cities. Yet it is in these places (that改为where) we can find the hope of keeping the traditional cultures. It is in this way that they also contribute to the preservation of traditional cultures.(这段说明了在小地方反而更能保留传统文化,可是没有提到政府的财政支持啊,其实论证的很好,就是觉得要结合题目,一直扣着它的话会更好些。)

To sum up, the government can consider providing enough financial support to major cities for their economic development. But the goal should not beyond that and any steps toward keeping big cities as the places for preserving traditional cultures cannot be justified.
