TOPIC: ISSUE150 - "Because of television and worldwide computer connections, people can now become familiar with a great many places that they have never visited. As a result, tourism will soon become obsolete."

还请大虾指教,总是超时啊,怎么办??

TV and worldwide computer connections bring not only the descriptive introduction to different places but also the life-experience shoot by profession, which makes people familiar with more places without going out. But it does not mean that the tourism will be obsolete as the latter part of the title statement asserts.

Admittedly, as a convenient and economic media, TV and Internet has provided people in one place ample opportunities to appreciate the scenes of the resorts all over the world, where they could not have much money or time to go. With the rapid development of communication technology and mass media, the program and website information contain a great deal of introduction and vivid pictures to various places, thereby helping people know the details and enjoy the landscape of various places without stepping out of home. For example, zhengdazongyi, a famous program in CCTV in china, has lead us to lots of places which we could never have a chance to go, such as the Eiffel Tower in France, Pyramid in Egypt, Red square in Russia, etc. In that program, accompanying the dynamic pictures by cameras the guide will tell you the background information and some legends about one place and even play games with the audiences. Pleasant experience and relevant knowledge will be obtained from such programs, in this sense, the effect of travel program on TV and Internet is comparative to that of the travel.

However, it is impossible for TV and Internet to make the tourism outdated due to some particular merits of travel. One is that persons can not only breathe some fresh air but also make some exercises when go out for a travel. The high pressure of modern society, which has reduced the likelihood of relaxation and exercise of people, can be released by going out for a travel, such as swimming in ocean or climbing mountains. Another is that the process of travel affords many opportunities of making some new friends and contacting with persons with different culture. During the journey that I visited the jiuzhaigou in Sichuan province last summer, the most valuable experience for me is to make friends with the several local minority residents and learn a little their language, which can hardly be gotten only by TV or Internet.  

In addition, the TV and Internet actually are promoting the tourism in some level. By introducing various places, TV and Internet contribute to trigger the interest of people and give guidance how to travel. An apt illustration for this point is that the tourism channel in Sohu.Com provides not only abundant information concerning various spots but also different routes of travel available to different people with different inclinations. As a matter of fact, the involvement of modern technology in travel will be beneficial to the development of tourism.

In sum, admittedly, TV and Internet do give people more chances to enjoy the beauty of various places, however, the traditional tourism has its own advantages in several respects and will flourish with the support of the modern technology.
