Generally speaking, it is artist who endows art soul, however, in my point of view, without critic society would have no chance to enjoy the lasting value.

Intense feeling stimulates the artist to embody it in works, such as novels, films, music, paintings. Involved the valuable experience and perception, art has its own soul which is endowed by artist. In this case, artist is the genuine creator of works of art. Wherever if the essence of art can be grasped by people or not, we have no reason to efface the artist's efforts in providing the whole society peace, beauty and mercy. Take the architectures around us for example, Falling water, which is designed by F. L. Wright, is the most famous building in 20’s century, for the harmony and equilibrium contained in it by combining human's thought of resistance and nature's ability of inclusion. From it people could feel the unification of human beings and nature which the artist wants to indicate to citizens especially the people who miss themselves in the hectic modern society. Also, our mind could get out of insecurity after we glaze at the fresco of Madanna and Child, in which Christian redemption and salvation purge human's disturbed nerve. Artist is often more sensitive and has the ability to catch each trivial change in mind, then by subliming it to some extent that could represent a kind of feeling, and eventually embody it by the art, works possess of their value of transmitting people the sentiment of the creator.

However, no individual is born artist, for cognition is increasing along with the experience's abundance. During this process, critic is the first one to thanks to. Critic always has his or her special conception on the works of artist, which is not also the reflection of his or her own opinion, but, in most of the cases, it represents the view of temporary society. An obligated critic should has comprehensive knowledge and particular idea, which would serve as a useful feedback to the artist. By acquiring the opinions of critic, the artist may recognize what the world outside views the works and whether they have understood the true meaning of the works. Nevertheless, this dose not mean the artist have to change his or her style which could not be accepted by general people. Cater general people's taste is the last choice to the real artist. The opinions of critic, which is usually the opposed ideas, only provide the artist more information in other aspects, and facilitate the artist to revise the works, during which artist has an more precise definition of himself or herself, and finally form distinct feather which is the determined factor of lasting value.

An other crucial significance of critics is that they uncover the abstruse meaning concealed in works and reveal it to society, finally the value has chance to last long. Art is the re-creation of artist, therefore the sublimed value is so abstract for general people to understand. Then the responsibility of critics is determined ----evaluating the works of art. This assessment is not only decide the quality of works, but express it to a more practical or superficial form. Nevertheless, sometimes the critics may misconceive the initial or indeed purpose of works, after all critics and artists have different experience and intelligence. Some may argue that these critics would mislead people by providing them wrong opinions about the works. The case is not as they conceive, for either opponent or proponent would try their best to reveal the essence of works and give the works more aspects and information for people to choose. Critics will not influence the true value because it is the people who make the final decision. Benefited from the attitude provided by critics, the impact of works could prevail to more people and longer time, and then the value has chance to last long.

In sum, artists and critics are not mutually exclusive for both of their obligations are transmitting the harmony, beauty and merit to people and make the society enjoy the lasting value of art.
