这文章写的麻木了.不知道我在干嘛....


TOPIC: ISSUE50 - "In order to improve the quality of instruction at the college and university level, all faculty should be required to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach."

The speaker's assertion is too extreme for our college education. Faculties as the core of a university, who are responsible to our students, should try their best to promote the educational and academic quality. In my opinion, faculty should be encouraged to work outside, but not all required.

Admittedly, working outside the academic fields makes a significant contribution to our professors' educational quality and knowledge system. Our university is somehow a community that consists of diverse people in which every teacher may be an expert in a certain realm. They could do some academic research or focus on education. In order to broaden their ken and promote educational skills, working outside the academic domain seems to be a very feasible way for our professors. For example, some educational theory training could improve a teacher's sense to better appreciate his students and alter his original rigid educational means to more suitable for the freshmen in his physics class. Also, sometimes, our teachers who emphasize too much on their academic realms are possible to enter into an inner world which blocks the bridge between them and the reality. Such a case is very critical that demands alteration. Since one of the goals of education is to guarantee our students to be more suitable to the society and to their prospective jobs, if our faculty cannot reach this level, how are we able to teach our students? Thus, spending time out of the academic world may be a best way. Certainly, this time should be cost on the relevant content which is instructive to their teaching.  

However, encouraging doesn't mean requiring. If the entire faculty is required to work outside academic world, there will be a big problem. Whatever the faculty do, they should bear in minds that their main roles are teachers, and then researchers rather than workers or merchants. As a premise, a university should guarantee its quality of education. Undoubtedly, an effective way to this kind of ensuring is faculty's enough working time here. I doubt that if a teacher only spend one hour at school, he can lead a good class. Therefore, there should be some regulations to limit our teachers' sufficient working time and at the same time academic achievements. Otherwise, maybe a full-time economic professor will do more on his own profitable business other than his students. Such a behavior is sure to lead a fashion that all faculty distract from teaching to their private interests.  

In reality, universities need to seek for a balance between academic researching and working on the relevant realms. An excellent for students should possess clear minds about his major courses which are combination with the academic knowledge and experience from working. The nature of education is to effectively impart information that is helpful to students. The basis of information flows from experience. At this point, all faculty should be encouraged to gain more experience which directly comes from society. What's more important is concentrating on how to change the experience into knowledge and infuse to their apprentices. In college period, a successful mode should open the door to the academic realm or equip students with power to challenge their professional careers. These two kinds of demands require our teachers achieving different capabilities. The duty of universities is to maintain the balance between the two functions, but not make unreasoned decision to force teachers out of academic fields.

Nowadays, new technologies make the world a new figure and people’s life become increasingly rapid and hurried. However, in college and university, there should maintain quiet and far from the roaring. The purely duty of schools is to provide sufficient choices for students to decide their own directions.

写的不错,很清晰的观点。开头有个引子就更好了。

1 让一个老师学教学理论,会让他更好的教物理.
2 IF+疑问, 这个是反问句.
3 结尾说的不明显. 最后加半句, which depends on faculty's interdisinplinary interaction and social working experience.

一修果然牛人!一直很崇拜issue能过600的人!我无论如何也想不出那么多话说,郁闷ing
我教育类的也写的最多,也最喜欢写教育的,但愿考试能碰上:)
我觉得开头那样就很好了,开头我觉得无论如何不能太长
结尾好像是有些问题,虽然写得很意味深长,但好像跟主题是没什么关系
b3里面的第二句话:An excellent(...) for students should possess clear minds about his major courses which are combination with the academic knowledge and experience from working.(这句话是不是少了个professor or teacher之类)
