Almost in every field there are some well-known high-profile awards which are set up to show the recognition of the great achievement of the individuals, for instance, Oscar in film, Nobel Prize in science, and the world cup in football match and so on. Meanwhile, some people claim that those high-profile awards in fact do obvious harms to the whole society since merely few people could win such a significant honor each year; in other words, the rest who at the same time devote themselves to the great research and work inevitably might be frustrated. However, as far as I am concerned, I would like to argue that those honorable awards present our society more benefits and have more positive effects no matter in the short run or long run.

To begin with, in spite of the fact that each year only very few people could obtain such a precious prize, almost both the winners and the rest majority are simultaneously stimulated to further carry on their studies in the future for better performance, more important, for the constant development of the relevant field and the society as a whole.

On the one hand, the prize winners certainly feel encouraged by such a honor, which indicates the recognition and appreciation from the professional field and the public. Chances are that once the individual contribution and spectacular performance are widely accepted, those individuals will have more energy and momentum to reach further accomplishment. A good case in point is John Bardeen, who is one of the four Noble winners gaining this award for twice. He got the Nobel Prize in physics for the invention of transistor in 1956, furthermore this honor and recognition promoted him to win another Noble prize in physics for the theory of superconductivity in 1978. Undoubtedly, the high-profile award has granted him limitless power to go on in the way doing research in the field of physics.

On the other hand, the high-profile prizes also serve as an impetus for the rest majority people who also dedicate themselves in the development of the science, sports, or other fields. Granted that the difficulty of winning such high-profile is lowered down significantly, and then who will still be spirited by the so-called awards. Obviously, the answer turns to be none. Perhaps due to the precious and valuable of this type of awards, people pay much attention on them and exert themselves more for the making the prominent contribution to the society.

Furthermore, as we know, those high-profile awards merely are granted to the few persons of unusual and significant contributions in the special areas. Generally, those few individuals exert their energy and vigor to settle out the puzzles or establish innovative approach and theory. Often, the puzzles which befuddle us for a quite long time tend to the bottleneck for the further progress of the field. Therefore, without the contribution of those eminent persons, the progress might be hindered seriously or even stagnated. For instance, the Nobel Prize winner in economics, Clive Granger invented an innovative way to transform non-stationary economic times series data with cointegration into stationary one, which to a large extent help to improve accuracy of prediction and forecasts of economic situations. Undeniably, due to the eminent performance of the awards winners, the evolvement of the science and the development of the society have been boosted at a striking pace compared with the past.

As matter of fact, the Prize itself is not the core of the whole affair, which is just a kind of regard for recognizing achievement. Physician, chemist, economists or other professionals, work not merely for the awards but for the progress of the science or other aspects of our society, which is closely related with the common welfare of the public. As a special honor, those high-profile awards have profound influence on the evolvement of the society since they are able to encourage the scientists, professionals to make more prominent job.
