Idealism and pragmatism seem to be contrary, in real lives, these two, however usually mix with each other as well. As for success, pragmatic behavior is inclined to handle problems, and quickly hit one's aim, however, idealistic view can help determine a perfect aim and inspire us. In Chinese philosophy, there is a saying, generally, means high aim always gets a middle result, while a middle aim always gets a low result. That is because people' aspiration declined as the issue goes on. To keep idealistic blueprint and pragmatic behavior are the best way to aim success.

When we set a blueprint, no matter doing business, political, academic, first of all, a high aim should be kept in heart. If we want to do business, we should believe one day we will become a boss with huge company. If we want to do academic, we should believe we will win Nobel Prize, someday. Of course, these seem impossible to most people, but if we do not have this determination, there will be no chance to access these success. A song called "I believe I can fly" is about Michael Jordan. His success moved us, and in his every match, we could see the determination of winning. Although sometimes, this seems to be a little bit idealistic to win the matches, but when the score was left behind in the last several minutes, his behavior and express always hit us, alike telling us he will win the game, and we could see the determination in his mind. That is why he will the most valuable, famous and successful players.

We always keep grand ideal in our heart, but ideal is just the aspiration on mental, when coming to the fact, we need practical acts to achieve our dream. That is just like climbing mountains, if we do not intend to get the peak, or we just dream of the peak without moving, we have no chance to the peak.

However, with the same importance, pragmatism is the direct way leading us to success, and every little development can be realized in this way. There are millions of examples helping us to understand the importance of pragmatism, no matter which discipline, which success, and which era, success is achieved by hard work. Successful scientists, artists, or politicians are all experienced pain and chastener to gain glory, so it is very easy to pick out several instances, like Gandhi, Mahomet, and Lincoln. And I find that is really hard to take somebody as an example, because that is the common qualification of all the successful people. To take some examples is just unfair for others, and it is quite hard to say who is more assiduous. So pragmatism is the axiom to success, no doubt and needless to be proved.

We all appreciate success. When coming to the topic of realizing our dreams, the pragmatism and idealism are equal and effects different ways. We need idealism to inspire us with enthusiasm, energy and aspiration, while, at the same time, we also need pragmatism to realize our dreams.
