Pragmatic behavior guarantees survival, whereas idealistic views tend to be superseded by simpler, more immediate options."

In this era of high efficiency leading to the promotion of people's attention on the practical efforts, I fundamentally agree with the speaker that the pragmatic behavior serves as one of the important avenue for human beings to achieve success. However, if we extend the contention too board would result in a terrible society lacking of human feelings. Thus, practical and idealistic points of view are both necessary for us to achieve success in every realm of life.

(+)Practical ideas, as magic power, have the immediate contribution to society. With no pragmatic behavior, we'll boggle before reality, which would finally lead to an extinction verge of human beings. E.g. business management and politics need more pragmatic works. for business, what can earn money is the best way, while the MBA's thought might be useless in reality. And for politics, the voter would like to support those who already show their ability of leadership, but not those who talk much and do little.

(-)Idealistic ideas, however, are long term plans to remedy short-sight views and provide blueprint for the human future. For example: people imagine to fly in the sky and land on the moon, which is already accomplished; we today pursue the secret of gene and origin of our space, which seems impossible today, will one day come to reality.

(合)The two aspects are so important for our society, like eyes and ears for human. An underestimate of either would make the society incomplete and hard to progress while a good cooperation of both factors is a catalyzer for any realm of life. Striking a balance between practical and idealistic is the best solution for both short-term development and control from whole view.

Accordingly, idealistic point of view are as same important as practical ones and they both serve as indispensable parts for the development of any realm of life.
