I have seen your application to our department today and want to let you
know I am interested to serve as your supervisor, if funding can be
arranged to support your studies.  The Grad Student Selection Cmte will
meet next after the New Year, so you must wait until then at least to
know the disposition of your application.

Currently I do not have a research assistantship to offer, but I do have
a couple of grant applications pending, and will submit a couple more
soon.  So hopefully there will be funding in the near future. There is
also the possibility that you could be awarded a teaching assistantship
by the dept, but that is beyond my purview and depends on how
competitive your application is ranked by the dept and the teaching
needs which is decided by the Chair and Associate Chairs.

At this point I would ask that you keep me informed about other offers
you may have.  If you have questions, feel free to ask.
