Scholars and researchers should not be concerned with whether their work makes a contribution to the large society. It is more important that the pursue their individual interests, however unusual or idiosyncratic those interests may seem.
1 开头提出自己的观点:同意
2兴趣的作用
3对社会的贡献是难以估计的,有时候考虑太多后果反而会影响研究
4让步,不是只要有兴趣就可以去做研究,科学家们还是得遵守道德和伦理上的责任

It is true that we usually evaluate scholars and researchers by the contribution of their achievement to the society. Because of this, many people claim that scholars and researchers should concerned more with the contribution of their work to the large society than their individual interests. However, as far as I am concerned, interests is the potential impetus of most discoveries and invents, so scholars and researchers should pursue their individual interests, especially those reasonable ones.
As the old saying goes that interest is the best teacher. For scholars and researchers, interest is the paramount impetus during the researching process. Firstly, interest can provoke the eager of figuring out what one is confused with or what one wants to know. Take Franklin for example, he was curious about the lightning and wonder if it was the same as electronic. Thus, he conducted a famous experiment with a kite and in the end he invented the lightning rob. Secondly, the process of researching is full of frustration and difficulties not matter what the research is. It is the interest that overcomes the frustration and makes the research work goes forward. Edison is a good example for this. Before he found the appropriate material for electric bulbs, he failed so many times. If he was not interested in the research, how could he persist in trying again and again after  the failure he had got, on the contrary, he would feel the research so boring and insipid. Therefore,
Without interests, many researchers cannot get great progresses during researching.
As for the contribution, it is very hard to predict whether what a researcher does is useful to the society or not. Research is an activity to explore the unknown world. Many researchers can not predict what they will discover, let alone whether the research they conduct will contribute to the society or not. For example, Einstain was devoting himself in the pure theory about atomy, but he did not take into account the atomic weapons which may threaten our human beings. For this case, if Einstain realized the danger of the atomic weapon and stopped his studying, the atomy theory may not come into being. In a word, if we consider too much about the result of our research, we may get impediment.
My opinion that Researchers and scholars should pursue their interests more than concern about whether their work makes contribution to the society or not does not mean that Researchers and scholars can pursue treacherous and evil interests regardless of the moral and ethic commitments. In the field of cloning technique, if scientists applied this technique on human beings, it would cause many ethic problems. So although the issue of cloning human beings attracts many scientists, this applying can not be supported.
To sum up, interest is the great motivation for scientists whether what they have done is contributable to the society or not. But for the better development of our society, scientists can not pursue the interests that violate the established moral and ethic commitments. They should still obey some regulations related their researching fields and try their best to explore the world. Only in this way, can scientists and society are satisfied.

It is true that we usually evaluate scholars and researchers by the contribution of their achievement to the society. Because of this, many people claim that scholars and researchers should [少了一个be]concerned more with the contribution of their work to the large society than their individual interests. However, as far as I am concerned, interests  is [单复数注意]the potential impetus of most discoveries and invents, so scholars and researchers should pursue their individual interests, especially those reasonable ones.
As the old saying goes that interest is the best teacher[这句不是一个完整的句子]. For scholars and researchers, interest is the paramount impetus during the researching process. Firstly, interest can provoke the eager of figuring out what one is confused with or what one wants to know[这句话看着别扭,建议改一下]. Take Franklin for example, he was curious about the lightning and wonder[wondered] if it was the[as] same as electronic[electricity]. Thus, he conducted a famous experiment with a kite and in the end he invented the lightning rob. Secondly, the process of researching[research即可] is full of frustration and difficulties not[no] matter what the research is. It is the interest that overcomes the frustration and makes the research work goes[go] forward. Edison is a good example for this. Before he found the appropriate material for electric bulbs, he failed so many times. If he was not interested in the research, how could he persist in trying again and again[persist本来就包含一再的意思,这里again可以去掉] after  the failure he had got,[前后是两句话缺少连词] on the contrary, he would feel the research so boring and insipid. Therefore, Without interests, many researchers cannot get[make] great progresses during researching.
As for the contribution, it is very hard to predict whether what a researcher does[直接把what a researcher does 改成research 就可以了,简洁] is useful to the society or not. [不用再加or not了,下面也是] Research is an activity to explore the unknown world.
So although the issue of cloning human beings attracts many scientists, this applying[application] can not be supported.
To sum up, interest is the great motivation for scientists [whether what they have done改为 no matter if their research ]  is contributable [contributive] to the society or not. But for the better development of our society, scientists can not pursue the interests that violate the established moral and ethic commitments. They should still obey some regulations related their researching fields and try their best to explore the world. Only in this way, can scientists and society are [be]satisfied.
To sum up, interest is the great motivation for scientists no matter if their research is contributive to the society or not.
