Should parents and communities participate in the local education as education is too important to leave solely to teachers, as the speaker asserts? In my view, I fundamentally agree that parents and communities must participate in the local education to some extent. However, the education in schools should be left to the professional teachers.

To begin with, parents, who live with children since their birth, can play an important role in the education for knowing their children quite well. As known to all, children spend most of their time in the family with their parents after school. So parents can teach their kids primarily by set them an example with their own behavior. Consider, a recent study shows that children are exceedingly possible to simulate from their parents’ way of speaking and behavior. Parents who usually speak to their kids politely in turn their kids are polite while talking to their peers and classmates. To the contrary, parents who often blame their kids will affect their children’s character and behavior. These children may have more possibilities to fight with classmates and with bad temper. Thus, in order to make kids better educated, parents should inevitably take more responsibilities in children’s education.

Additionally, communities can also benefit the education of children as they participate in the local schools in three respects. First, communities can provide more financial supports to the local schools. With these additional financial supports, local schools can improve the education facilities as well as studying environment, which without question can elevate the education environment. In addition, communities can arrange some social activities which provide more communication to the children with the society and lift the spirit of children. For example, the communities can organize some volunteers to do cleanings in the Homes of respect for the aged, which can provide the children with social practice and the awareness of responsibility. Thirdly, children are left home uncared-for when they have summer or winter vacation while their parents go to work. And the community can organize some camps such as work in the orchard, or provide some courses on self-defense or music. Thus, communities can play a well auxiliary role beside education from parents and schools.

However, education by professional educators in schools can never be replaced. It is to our common sense that children spend most of daytime in the school with their teachers. With respect to major education, teachers with specialized training are more professional educators. And they can give guidance to children when they are confronted with some professional problems. And the teachers who have classes with kids, correct their exercises and papers, notably have a more complete information about the children's studies, and accordingly make an advisable study plans for the children. Moreover, the teacher with specialized training and educational experiences are more suitable to provide suggestion to those children with psychological problems. Therefore, professional education in schools is the primary approach that educates children.

To sum up, parents and communities play a significant role in the education of children, thus they must be involved in the local education in some respects. However, the education in schools must be left to the teachers--a group of professional educators with specialized training.
