Clips from Youtube are downloadable. Use http://keepvid.com/. Copy and paste the URL of the clip page to keepvid.com, click "download", and keepvid.com will save the file as an flv file to your computer.

You can play the flv file with an flv player. I recommend Riva Flv Player, which can be downloaded at download.com

You can also copy and paste the video file in your Temporary Internet Files folder. which IE automatically downloads as you watch it on Youtube. change the file name to *.flv and then you can play it.

You can even convert flv files into wmv files, with Riva Video Encoder.

or into mp4 files (playable on iPod), with YoutubetoiPod converter.
