It is presumptuous to judge a society's ideas and values according to the appearance and behavior of its people, though it is true that they way people look, dress, and act reveals their attitudes and interests. The society's ideas and values should be judged by its political status, arts, history and culture.

First, though the way people look, dress and act reveals their attitudes and interests, we can not determine one's attitudes and interests according to his or her look and act, since sometimes people can not dress themselves all by their own desires. For example, a cook whatever love beauty could not make any cosmetic on his or her skin. A teacher should dress himself or herself serious whatever lively he or she is. People's attitudes and interests are determined by their knowledge, experiences, environment, but not their look, dress and act. So it is inaccurate to estimate one's attitudes and interests by his or her dress or act.

Second, observing the appearance and behavior of people could not tell the society's ideas and values. The appearance and behavior of people could only reflects the taste of them. With the current rapid development of the economy and commerce, the communication among all the world is universal. The spread of trends of dressing and acting is beyond our imagination. For example, people all over the world are fond of jeans, but this phenomenon could not prove that the ideas and values all over the world are the same. It is common that girls in America and China wear T-shirts and mini-skirt in the summer, while the characters of American girls and Chinese girls are different.

Third, a society's ideas and values are often impacted by its political status. If the government propagandizes feminism and sticks up for women's rights, women in this country would gain higher education and more salary. Women in the country can also express their thinkings with freedom. Women's status does not have intimate correlation with their appearance and behavior. Women's status could not be judged by their look, dress and act. Moreover, a society's ideas and values are steady at some era, but the appearance and behavior of its people may be changed. The appearance and behavior of people are often determined by the trend and the economy level of this country. If one society is in its prosperity, most people in this country could enjoy themselves at weekend. To the contrary, if one country suffered economic crisis, labors have to work hard for their lives.

In sum, a society's ideas and values should not be judged by the appearance and behavior of its people, but the culture, political status, the economy development of this society.
