The speaker claims that through observing the appearance and behavior of its people, we can tell much about a society’s ideas and value. In my point of view, it is true that individual appearance and behavior can expose some part of their society's ideas and values. Nevertheless, it is not enough to know a person 's attitude and interests inside, which can be revealed by communication.

To begin with, it comes to appearance of people. Individual look and dress stand for their certain values and ideas of their society. As we know, Arabian women, who always dress so special, have never exposed their body to others, such as arms, face, hands, even feet, except their families. According their appearance, it is rather simple to identify them since their special habits, which obviously reveal their religious belief to some extent. It is true that indeed we can tell something about a special group of people concerning their   society's ideas and values, however I am afraid that hardly we can describe their interests and attitudes inside.  

Moreover, it comes to behavior of people. Different people have their special behavior that expresses their certain culture character different from other groups, which is hardly changed. For instance, the American parents always emphasize the significance of independence through their education for children. Even most parents cultivate children's various abilities, such as business ability. In contrast, as Chinese parents ,  who always love their children so that children also have no way to endure,    they are busy with their jobs all the time for enough money to supply their children to accept adequate education, such as math, art, music even language. However, they seem to overlook cultivation of the ability of society. Undoubtedly, it reflects their special culture backgrounds. Though they recognize their behaviors may be mistakes, hardly they can change in that their ideas and values of society. Therefore, in this sense, the characters of people’s culture, which is expressed by their behavior, reveal a society’s value and ideas.

It is true that to a large extent through observing the appearance and behavior, we can know a part of interest and attitudes outside. Nevertheless, hardly we can describe the exact interests and attitudes inside that seem to be privacy of individual. Under such circumstance, communication essentially plays a vital part in revealing individual's interests and attitudes. For instance, if we hope to makes friends with others, we must know their inside characters first. Few people can only rely on others' appearance and behavior to judge individual character. But we can easily know their essential minds and interests if only you are adept in communicate with others. Then we still identify whether we can become friends, which attribute to the contribution of communication.

To sum up, overlooking the significance of communication, we hardly recognize the essential characters of others, such as interests and attitudes. However, observing the appearance and behavior, some certain society’s  value and ideas can be revealed partly.
