关于Master的比较，mit教授给我的回复，供大家参考

我发信询问一位MIT的年轻教授，请他帮我从学术训练的角度比较一下MA Eco@Duke和QMSS@Columbia。以下是他的回复：

Hi XXXXX,

If you want to go to PhD, my hunch is that Duke will be better. I am not
very familiar with either of the programs, so I just went to take a look
a their websites. Duke seems like a pretty conventional MA program,
which even has a special track for people wanting to pursue PhD, which,
I think, is exactly what you want. Columbia's program is
interdisciplinary, student's will have much more heterogeneous goals,
and the faculty will be much more mixed. The latter is particularly
troublesome, since in order to apply to PhD you will need to ask for
letters of reference. In Duke you'll be taught by faculty of the
economics department, who are fairly well respected in the profession
and to whose opinion others will be inclined to pay attention. In
Columbia most of the faculty appears to be coming from other
disciplines, their names won't be familiar to the PhD admission
committee, and overall it is not clear how qualified they are to judge
your ability to do well in a PhD program. So I would go to Duke.

哈哈 看来师姐原来也拿了QMSS的AD哈

今年我还是挺期盼这个AD的, 特别是被Duke拒了以后

QMSS或许不是和做pure econ的学生, 但是如果PhD阶段想做一些interdisciplinary studies in Econ, Psychology, Neuroscience 我觉得还是不错的选择
