A student cannot have a vacation period & stay in US. Unless...?

  我们学校要求我暑假必须上课学习; 我去询问International Office 负责人，他给我的解释是：他根据美国移民法（According 214.2(f)(5)(iii)这个法条）他制定的如下规定，并且给我写在纸上 “A student cannot have a vacation period & stay in US. Unless enrolled at one Semester----some circumstces two Semester”。（见下图附件）

请问斑竹，按照法律条文，International Office 负责人所作的规定是否合理？

根据214.2(f)(5)(iii)这个法条，我是否必须得按照他说的这样做：1，暑假必须在学校上课；2，暑假必须回国。

我想在暑假不回国，也不选课。    谢谢斑竹

(iii) Annual vacation . An F-1 student at an academic institution is considered to be in status during the annual (or summer) vacation if the student is eligible and intends to register for the next term. A student attending a school on a quarter or trimester calendar who takes only one vacation a year during any one of the quarters or trimesters instead of during the summer is considered to be in status during that vacation, if the student has completed the equivalent of an academic year prior to taking the vacation.

怎么这么复杂……我的理解很简单啊，在你I-20上登记的学业完成之前，你要保持full time student的身份，只要你能保持身份，不上课的时候你爱去哪去哪。要达到这个要求你就得在每个学期注册一定的学分，但是不同学校的学期制是不同的，所以一年可能有两个也可能有三个四个学期。学期之间的话，你想去哪去哪。那你们学校美国人暑假也必须选课吗？如果是，那你也得选，如果不是的话，我的理解就是这算假期，那你应该可以不选的，而且也不用回国。反正我们学校是这样的。仅供参考

我第一年的暑假, 从5月到8月, 共四个月假期, 我都用来在学校打工来着, 没注册任何课程, ISO说不用注册.

第二年快毕业的暑假实习, 注了一个学分, 因为没这一个学分就毕不了业.

就是说如果你暑假注册秋季的课或者打算注册秋季的课, 暑假的身份就是合法的.
