1,the most important instruction is about the ability to capture knowledge.
2,在reserch 工作中,与公司合作是非常多的,这些并不要求faculty spend time working outside the academic world. 他们只需要从与公司的接触中获取信息,以他们对这一领域knowledge的掌握程度,这些信息足以使他们keep up with the pragmatic society and provide brilliant instruction.
3,考虑到不同学科的性质,economics,business.. 让一部分faculty尝试一下working in professions relevant to the courses they teach,未尝不可. university should let the faculties choose by themselves.

In today's era of limitless change and update, college or university plays an indispensable role in providing fresh idea and originality. This statement obviously is based on this circumstance and calls for instruction more pragmatic and commonsensical. In my opinion, requiring all faculty to spend time working outside the academic world on professions related to their teaching is apparently a drastic method however the correlation between academic area and real world is important.  

What is the most substantial fact included in the instruction delivered to students in college or university? It's not the knowledge itself but the way of how to capture knowledge and assimilate it. Even though working outside the academic world would offer faculty the newly updated information which they may later convey to students in the process of teaching. It is quite possible that they are still ignoring the core value embraced in instruction. World is keeping changing no matter the students are studying in university or have already graduated, no matter they are receiving instruction from teacher or struggling by their own. If students are taught to be resulted in not able to keep pace with the times voluntarily but expecting to receive material prepared by teacher, I'd rather say, this kind of instruction is frustrated even if students are granted the most advanced and fashionable knowledge and information during university study. From this point of view, demanding its faculty to work outside the academic world is not the most effective way to improve the quality of instruction in a university.

Nevertheless, we must accept that academic area is not supposed to be isolated from the world outside campus. In fact, in university nowadays, correlation with companies relevant to the research domain is common and epidemic. As in my university, various joint projects proposed by industrial company and corresponding school are afford to students. We can gain pragmatic perception by working on these joint projects effectively. In the other hand, faculty in the university are not living in a vacuum box. Boundless information can be acquired from multifarious aspects in their work and everyday life. Seminars, conference, meeting or even searching on the internet are entirely possible in furnishing them enough insight into the industrial and business professions. Based on their comprehension and acquaintance on the relevant academic area, they are able to analyze and digest this information in a professional way. These are adequate for them to keep up with the realistic society and provide brilliant instruction. In this matter, requiring all faculty to work outside is to some extent an unwise suggestion and will waste time and energy.

Considering the dissimilar properties that different subjects possess, let part of the faculty try to spend time working outside is nonetheless a good idea. Some subjects like economics and business are closely related to the practical world. Working in these professions outside the academic world can improve the understanding and broaden the outlook of faculty. This serves to advance the depth and width on the instruction provided. We cannot generally deny all the positive facts provided by working outside. Thus, the university is supposed to let faculty choose by themselves. Only themselves know the needs of their own the best. The compulsory dictation only leads to discontent and inefficiency.

In sum, because the inherent function of our education is to cultivate qualified citizens for the society, reasonable people with different consideration will always advise various methods to improve the instruction. We need to keep a levelheaded mind on addressing this problem. With a fully comprehension on the purpose of instruction and understanding the environment we are staying in. The university should generate an elastic rule regarding to the requirement of working outside the academic area depends on different cases but not to demand all its faculty to obey the same rule ineffectively.

行文流畅,连词也不错,不过例子不是很好,结构不够明朗,个人意见:)
