Issue130. “How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society."

  Contemporary adolescent generation will undoubtedly turn to be a leadership in future society; at present a crucial issue is what should we do to cultivate these constituent elements of tomorrow for a better society. As a necessary the author talked about their socialized degrees, but in my view, it is far from enough, for one thing, individual ability, group cooperation sense, such topics which also can determine the future destiny of life should not be neglected. What’s more, we have not such capability to teach the children how to construct a better society for what’s a better one is unclear to us.
  Indeed, how children are socialized today which let them get used to the modern world more easily and smoothly, is very important for the future, but it is only one aspect. The others subjects, such as personal ability, including art training, master a foreign language and so on, can bring an individual a huge advantage in the competitive circumstance. And this advantage can intensify surrounding people’s competition senses which would promote social progress. And a better society needs excellent person’s domination. However, cooperative ability is also important in a future life, personal technology must turn to be a group power, that is, a better society doesn’t need a lot of outstanding brains, but a powerful whole. So only pay our attention to the children’s socialization is a partial opinion, what is the fully development needs our consideration.
  Nowadays, all kinds of education for our kids exist to help them develop diverse technology and knowledge; those parents who want their kids to be outstanding have recognized the importance of personal ability. However, adults always go to extreme, besides the public school, students are busy with private courses in their spare time, the intention of parents is absolutely correct, but the dominant education style turns their children to a learning machine, leaves them little time to contemplation and socialization, be brought up in a solitary circumstance especially in Chinese one-kid policy society, children lack the sense and method to get along with others, we can draw this conclusion of the increase commit suicide cases among adolescents in nearly all countries, and in Japan, a serious phenomenon is that more and more guys are inclined to close themselves in a living room for many years without communication to outside, which have caused high attention from society. Overlook the development of teenager socialization degree will turn out to be a society without cooperation and affection. It is also a negative influential fact of tomorrow world.
  Moreover, what’s a better society and what kind of life do we appreciate is hard to define; different background can give different conceptions. The most available and acceptable idea is a world full of love and harmony, no crime or poverty; everyone leads a comfortable life, but this is only a Utopia, so complex the world affairs are that people can’t dismiss every problem in a reached period, and a better society is under discussion, sometimes even an usual accepted society couldn’t work out, the Mid-east Roadmap Peace Plan which has been passed in the UN, also aborted because of the opposition both from Israel and Palestinian government. Since we can not get an agreement about what is an ideal world, how could we know the way we should lead to educate our kids, thoughtless action might not bring us an anticipated result.
  Consequently, since we all acknowledge modern children will have a significant role in the future society, the destiny of society is not only decided by how they are socialized, but also individual ability and cooperation sense, how to raise children is rather a complicated issue, but must be confronted with intelligently and deeply.
