In this In this report,the author recommends of a raise of $10,000 of Professor Thomas's annul salary and a promotion to Dapartment Chairperson.To justify his recommendation,the author argus that her classes are among the largest at the university the and the money she has brought to the university in the research grants has exceeded her salary in each of the last two years .Close scrutiny of  the facts,however,reveals that none of them lend credible support to the recommendation .
First,the author considers the scale of the class stands for the popularity of the teacher.However,this's not always that case.There may be only professer in that university who teach botany,thus the students can choose no teachers but she .there're also possiblity that other teachers have some research program that they cannot teach currently,or the students are requested to choose her class for some reason not due to their own willings.Thus,without explaining why her class is large ,the author cannot convince me on her popularity among  students.
Second,the author doesn't tell us for what the the money she has brought to the university in the research grants has been spent and the money contributed to new findings or inventions in the university.So if the money were not used corretly or is little useful to research,it means nothing even if it exceeds her salary.
Third,the author recommends a raise and promotion to make Professor Thomas still work in the university.However,there is no indiction that the professor will leave the university if there's not a raise in her salary and promotion. She may be a person who pay more attention to teaching and research instead of salary.There're possiblity that she can get more money by cooperating with other companies,so she doesn't care about the salary from school.
In sum this report is logicly flawed in several respects.To bolster the recommendation the author should make a survey to find out the reason why Professor Thmoas' class is large and whether her teaching and research ability  worth a raise in salary and promotion .The author should also find out whether Professor Thmoas has indicated that she will leave in there's no a raise and promotion.
