"The study of history has value only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives."

提纲:1通过学习历史我们可以避免犯前人犯过的错误.
     2通过学习历史我们可以汲取成功的经验.
     3研究自然界进化的历史是科学发展的源泉.
     4我们必须把历史经验和现实状况联系起来.

As an ancient saying goes（and I paraphrase）, a mirror can mirror the spots on our face, while the history can mirror the rise and fall of a nation.{唐太宗的话怎么翻译我记不住了，只好意译} However in this statement, the author claims that the study of history has no value unless to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives. I can not concede it.

First of all, researching history can help us avoid making the same mistake again. There used to be myriad disasters in history, as the fallowing examples show, we can draw inspiration from studying the reason why disasters happened. Chauvinism brought along tremendous disaster to overall humanbeings including Germans themselves. Realizing that point, German government immersed itself to effort to restrict Nazism in all social aspects. Just as a great philosopher said" The smart people is jus that who can not stumble over the same stumbling block a second time." it is necessary for all of us to draw inspiration from history, sometimes it seems not so relevant to our daily lives, but it will profoundly influence our fate as well as our offspring's.

Secondly, we can learn successful experience from great achievements of the past. No success is absent a reason, for example, America became the most powerful notion in just two centuries. What made it gain so great success, we feel curious to that. Study of history indicates that it is democracy and market economy that made it soar. Of cause, we had better learn from America to establish a democratic politic and market economy in our own country. Obviously, other's successful experience can accelerate our own development, which will entitle numerous persons enjoy prosperity and democracy.

Thirdly, studying the evolution of the earth and cosmos constitutes a key fountainhead of advance of science. Darwin explored the history of live evaluation, then found some important regular patterns, on the foundation he founded his theory of evaluation, which have significant effect on the whole humanity. Maybe, the relevance between evolution of cosmos and our mundane life is loose, but without studying it, the modern civilization is not available.

Of cause, we should never abide by historical experience without qualifications, in that case, we will commit dogmatism. Because any experience rests on particular situation，absent the very situation， it can not work. For example, President Franklin Roosevelt used to pull America out of the great depression via New Deal, but if we adopt the same policy to manage economy nowadays, we doom to suffer from failure.  By contrast, we should associate historical experience with reality.

In conclusion, the study of history is beneficial to us, no matter whether it is relevant to daily life.  As a provident people, we should make good use of the historical experience.

对于daily life的理解不确切，其实我也是不知道什么才能算daily life, 可以局限到日常的吃饭睡觉工作学习，也可以广泛到一切与现实有关的题材。真是伤脑筋。。。

In the first place, history is related to culture, so the study of history is beneficial for culture to be passed down generation after generation. Commonsense informs that culture as the kristallization of the ethos of particular society is founded upon history. In order to comprehend the culture of a certain society, we must learn its economic, political background, and the relationship between it and the prevenient culture. For instance, in order to learn the culture of Judaism we must know the history, when the ancestors of Jew was enslaved by ancient Egyptian, what a miserable life they lead, how they escaped from Egypt and so on. Uudoubtedly, history, the skeleton upon which culture adheres , worth studying, even if it is not so tightly related with daily life.
In the second place, history,  the fountainhead of the self-identity and cohesion play a vital role in the development of every nation. In most cases, history is directly related to the very corn value of a nation which serves as the crutch of a nation. Take America as an example, it is the same ideal that unites American who come from every corner of the world together. That ideal involves freedom and democracy, which are achieved in a series of fight. The fathers of American and many soldiers fought for freedom and democracy, many of whom devoted their precious life. However, their ideal never died, on the contrary, it became stronger and stronger and encouraged American to advance continuously. Today, facing with the manuscript of the Declaration of Independence composed by President Thomas Jefferson, we can still feel the power of the ideal.
