How to be an effective leader? That is a complex question to be answered only by a few words. In this era of modernization and industrialization leading to more competition, leader ability has some new definition. However, some essential quality is can not be eliminated, that is the ability to remain consistently committed to particular principles and objectives. But this is not enough, keeping pace with the development of society and caring the popular opinion are also included.

To begin with, an insistence of some particular principals and objectives is a basic making to a effective leader. The principals consist of their politic ideal, their thinking of management, and their personal rules, and the consistence of all these show the public as part of their special charisma, their impressing personality and their strong influence. Giving some examples: Martin Luther King, addressed the famous lecture “I have a dream ”, is a consistent leader who devote himself to civil rights and gained the world’s respect; John F. Kennedy, the former American president, acted his own will as a way to insist on his principals in the poll in the secant when he was young; Howard Schultz, the CEO of Starbucks, holding the principal that never lower down the image of the band by advertisement.

Moreover, in the political and commercial realm the issue is no less complex, an effective lead must have the ability to keep pace of the development of society. He must have clear head and make decisions not beyond his principals after close analysis to the complicate situation. As the president of China, DengXiaoPing, who puts forward the great policy, one country two systems, and with this policy, Hong Kong and Macao have return to China peacefully. Another example is the ohm’s foundation. All the ohm’s countries’ leaders realized that only one country is not strong. Additionally, caring about the public is another factor in the making of an effective leader. Theodore Parker, an American theologian has said “Democracy means not "I am as good as you are "but you are as good as I am."”.There is a Chinese adage “the water that bears boat is the same that swallow it up.” Both the words set forth the relationship between the leader and the public. A leader not follow the popular opinion at proper time will not earn the support from the public, and perhaps could not be a leader any more, so caring about public is an essential ability to be an effective leader.

For conclusion, as to be more complete, I would say that to be an effective leader, just have conviction or the ability to consistently commit to the particular principals, is not enough. He also should be a person with passion for the course, a holder of values, a leaner with humility, and a communicator of government and public, etc. Also in order to achieve better accomplishment, an effective leader should be sensitive and attentive to his people’s opinion and adopt some useful advice timely.
