However, I strongly disagree that we should expand utilization of this approach in widely field, or that any scandals could be an effective influence on our society and culture progress.

As for the claim that the report of scandals could let the people be aware of the sin in their surrounding, we already have sufficient empirical evidence that this will not simply happen. For nearly half-centuries we have been peering through TV and newspapers at other countries about the various scandals in politics, especially bribe behavior in government; yet this corruption is as much today as ever. For example, in only two years, more than 15 officers who have a position higher than mayoralty were arrested due to the corruption. However, everyone knows the scandal about mayor of Beijing city, Chen Xitong was sentence to death. There still no any change in the consciousness of these government officers. The more reasonable is conclusions that the reportage of scandals has actually served to attract the readers on paying for their newspaper.

More over , in my view，these scandals could continue harm the repute of country and area for same reason that people do not like to communicate with the man who has an ignominious history: We all need the safety and healthy circumstance around our business and life. Will a company still want to setup a new plant in a country where there is a scandal that the local government major officers force the companies invest a great amount of money on the unreasonable inner government? Certainly not. In short, some scandals are manifestations of poor environment for investment and for deeply cooperation. This negative impact is why South Korea government holds an emergency cabinet council when they heard news that the killer who shot 32 persons in Virginia Tech University is a Korea student.

It is some what more attempting to accept the speaker's assumes that the scandals could draw the people's attention on the certain field. In sum, while the scandals in politics, academia, or other areas might bring an active influence in certain field as a result of exposal in public, the influence is also likely to harm the reputation as a result. However, the effect of speaker and reformer could not serve as a substitute of that from some scandals.
