     Does it only the artists that give the works for lasting value? I don't think so, the statement that totally reject the value of the critic is quite unreasonable. The works' lasting value attribute to both the artists and the critics.

    As the statement claimed, the artist is the one who create the lasting things, the painting, films, and many other creative works reflect the panoply history of the human being, and the value of the society. The painting "helianthus" by the famous painter Van Gogh, the famous symphonies composed by Mozart or Beethoven, without their talents and inspirations , we could not have these famous works influence the whole world, so there is no doubt that the artist is the original strength that give the society something of lasting value.

    But when it comes to the importance of the critics, it cannot be ignored absolutely.

    First of all, the critics help us understand and interpret the art, since the art is something quite abstract, that not all the masses can understand the real value of the art, they need someone who is familiar with the work and have an insightful view of it to interpret the value to the masses, if without the critics, I think the valuable art will flow with the winds forever. So the critics are the one who discover the value, who promote the value to the masses.

    Secondly, the critics serve as a filter that help the masses to determine which art is the valuable, and worth our attention and time, since there is so many works created every year or every dynasty, just  look into the market of films, every year tens of thousands of films showed in the cinema all over the world, we as the masses have no such time to view every one of them, so there is the various awards to evaluate the most valuable films in the country or world, the critics that have the professional skills to estimate the worth of each film, through this way, the masses can get to know the most valuable arts in the world, in this angle, the critics make the valuable arts present to the masses.

    Thirdly, the view of the critics can make the artist improve if it is true that there exist some flaws, for example, the film industry now having a trend to the business, the motive of producing a film is to make money instead of spreading some kind of virtue or spirit. At this time, there is quite a lot critic stand out to critic this kind of goal, appeal for the real art. So the critics can be the one who correct the flaws in the art and make the works much better.

     Admittedly, there also have the possibility that the overdue criticism and wrong evaluation will give the works a bad influence, and different critic will have different opinion, so whether the critic can play the good effect on the masses, it still depends on the masses to absorb the goods and eliminate the bad ones.

     In sum, the artist and the critic both play an important role in the art world that giving the works lasting value, we should not ignore any one of them, they supplement each other, the works created by the artist and with the help of the critic that they can finally be valuable.
