[i习作temp] Issue144 【SWEETBOX】第五次作业 by 小破孩 [复制链接]

Issue144
It is the artist, not the critic, who gives society something of lasting value.

Words:650

From the chefs cooking in the restaurants to the gourmets writing comments for magazines, from the designer zealous about fashion to the customers, users and the judgers of the clothes, from the athletic players in tense matches to the commentators, the creators and analysts always exists together, pushing forward and promoting the development of particular field, so is the case of the artists and the critics. However, it is actually the artists, the producer and the author of the products, imposes the long lasting value to the artworks.

To begin with, historically, it is the value of the artwork itself provides aesthetic appreciation, with critics merely helping introduce the artwork to the general public. Although on one hand, critics play essential role to facilitate explaining the inner stories of the artworks to those with different backgrounds who cannot interpret the arts. On the other hand, most of the times in history, the understanding of critics is still limited, with plenty artworks floating away with the river of time. As a matter of fact, the significance of an artwork can neither be raised nor debased simply by critics, with multitudes of artworks cannot be comprehended by its coevals. And only after the ablution of time and suspicion, can the artwork emitting its flagrance. Monet, founder of French impressionist painting, had the painting “Impression: Sun rise” as his representative product but was not accepted at his time, partially may because he used mainly blue colors to reflect the light of the sun rise. Critics at his time even put derogatory comment upon it. Only after almost a hundred years and after his death, did these arts accepted and appreciated by the society and Monet himself is also considered the founder of the impressionist. Therefore, it may not exaggerate to say that with limiting function of the critics, long lasting values are only inherently exists inside the artworks.

Moreover, facing the situation nowadays, the critics emphasizing commercial values of artworks may even misleading the public, and only artists stick to their own principles can give long lasting artworks. With the development of modern society, the work is also further divided and detail specialists emerges to separate the critics and the artists. Their different origins lessen the intercrossing or communications between them. Unfortunately, the critics become merely the carrier of certain art theory, with little understanding of the thoughts behind the work or the themes artists want to express. For example, when collectors and auctions show tremendous interests in realistic canvas paintings from 2004 these years, the critics praise those artworks and do cost estimations during exhibitions. Sadly, the relationship between the artists and the critics turns away from partners, both of whom contribute to the prosperous of arts, to businessmen, who compromise each other with definite utility. At these times, only those creating with tranquility mind without the interruption of the lucre can provide us invaluable and unique artwork.

Admittedly, from time to time, certain artists are also critics when they are judging others’ artwork and these healthy discussions prompt the artists to produce long lasting artworks. As artists, they can suggest methods to express thoughts more clearly in the literatures, design the suspensions more tasteful in the novels and arrange the compositions more delightful in the paintings when they critic others’ artworks. As critics, they would offer more practical modifications to certain controversial issues to solve the realistic problem they might meet themselves during production. Only after thorough discussion with his fellows, can artists figure out the problems, try the feasible solutions and make progress.

Taken together, it is the artists who possess the creating power and exerts their talent produce grandeur artworks. Critics might help people understand the work, but they might also give misleading directions. Only those persistence artists can produce work passing the tests from the public and the time, leaving their long lasting treasures to the next generations.

满不错的,文笔实在是好.呵呵.但是感觉从题目的角度出发,文章的重点还是应论述为啥artists' work are lasting not critics',文中对critics 及artists and critics 的关系论述有些多了,也不知说的对不对...

这篇文章和我选择了不同的观点,但是我更欣赏你的这篇。同时也让我明白是artworks而不是art works.
但在B2,你那个例子怎么支持的我不是很懂。也有少量的错误,artists want(wanting) to express.
总体说来,我觉得从语言和结构上这篇都很棒。看来Issue的感觉你也找到了,呵呵。

楼主的文笔真的是没话说,感觉洋洋洒洒的很流畅的就下来了,对我的作文的批改,我学到很多,:) ,感激ing。
我还没有批改过作文,也不太会看,就只是觉得moreover那段的论证还比较模糊,感觉有点比较难理解,
文章的观点是我不太敢尝试的,怕写不好,但看搂住这篇就觉得写的很好,赞~~
还希望以后多多指教啊~~

整体感觉不错。条例很清楚的说。我现在只能做一个critic,让我自己to create and produce artwork like this one would be a hard job for me now.  J

LZ,我发现一个问题,你第一段最后有点跑题的嫌疑,确实是the artists, the producer and the author of the products, imposes the long lasting value to the artworks. 但题目强调的是对社会的影响吧. ARTWORKS是由ARTIST创造的,那价值已经在创造的那瞬间就产生了,CRITICS只不过是评价,所以A LONG LASTING VALUE TO THE ARTWORKS是没疑问的,没切题,改改就好了.
