TOPIC: ISSUE186 - "Practicality is now our great idol, which all powers and talents must
serve. Anything that is not obviously practical has little value in today's world."
   
    Practicality is our great idol not only now but also in the past and in the future,
which is a undoubted assertion. The only thing we should concern is that we should be more
patient to what is not obviously practical, after all many things will not show their value
in their early time. As a Chinese ancient saying goes: " Gold  will always glow no matter
where and when."  
    To the beginning, I think it is necessary to quote a latest survey that  engineering
disciplines' graduates are more popular than other disciplines' graduates like art, science
etc )in hunting for job in China. In other words, our enterprises, our society more need
practical elites. Nowadays college students are confronting with more and more rigorous
competition in employee market, however those job hunters who are skillful and practical are
exceptional. Look these universities that have high ratio in that their graduates got job in
China, most of them are good at engineering, also is that their graduate are more practical.
From this point, I have to admit that practicality is our great idol.
    Why we are so addictive in practicality? I think that example of enterprise is
convictive.
    First and the most crucial factor is economic profit. Practicality means the thing or
people can be used at once, while need not to pay much money to train their new employee or
further study of products. This refers to a hot issue that at present enterprises are not
willing to sink money into train new comers, which pay more attention to how can find those
employee can work immediately. Apparently this will bring more profits to them. It like this
situation that one NBA team without any hesitation will choose Kobe----NBA super star
instead of Oden--- the best rookie in 2007 NBA draft. It is obvious that Kobe can not only
enhance team's level at once, at the same time large amount of audiences will be attracted
to this team, so money is. While Oden is not so attractile who just is a rookie, his future
is unknown. After all, no one will ignore a ready-to-wear gold ore to chase a unbeknown
desert hill. Here we will spontaneously think of this problem: venture investing. An
enterprise that invest mostly concern if the investment is dangerous. I believe that most
enterprises will choose not or low risky investment. While practicality can solve this
problem well. To one product, due to its practicality, it will reveal its
value quickly, let consumers have enough reason to purchase it.
    Therefore, practicality represents profit and low-risk. It can let us look one thing or
person obvious value. This is unquestionably beneficial for we create
weath and value fast. Nevertheless, many facts tell us exorbitant pursuit to practicality
let us misunderstand and lost many valuable things. So, we must be more patient to treat
things instead of pay much attention to practicality.
    Depp, Hollywood's famed movie star, ever was considered as a inferior actor in his early
career. But Depp's experience prove an ancient saying I mentioned above: " Gold  will always
glow no matter where and when." As is known to all, Depp is the most popular actor. From
this, it is not difficult to conclude that lots of valuable things are covered in order that
we can not find at first glance, we must give more patience and time to them, invest our
work to them to develop their value.
    In sum, practicality is very important for us indeed, but we also should give
those things that still not show their glow more time and cultivation.
