issue83 Government should preserve publicly owned wilderness areas in their natural state, even though these areas are often extremely remote and thus accessible to only a few people.

Environment problems, which is one of the major problems of our society nowadays, attract lots of attention. And the wilderness areas, which decreases sharply due to deforestation, pollution etc, play an important role in relieving the severe environment issue. So we should pay much more attentions to these areas, even the government should invest money on preserving them.

To begin with, wilderness areas serve as an significant element in the overall environment condition of the earth. Without the wilderness areas our current environment condition can be much worse. A case in point is the most concerned problem of global warming, it is known to all that the temperature of the earth keep increasing, and therefore introducing lots of other problems. But the tropical forest areas such as the Amazon in South Africa do an great effect to decreasing the temperature of the earth. Without these tropical forest areas, which is wild, barbarism, the temperature of the earth probably will increase several degrees, hence cause lots of other environment problems. So the wilderness areas do lots of benefits to environment and relieving the severe environment problems to some extent.     

Moreover, even a few people can do a magnitude harm to the environment of the wilderness areas. According to our everyday experience, we may take it for grant that only the number of people that can be accessible to the wilderness reaches to a certain a mount that can do a major harm to these areas, in some sense, it is not the case. With the technology advancing faster than ever at present society, the work efficient also increasing in an hard to imagine pace, few people can do lots of works that required a large number of people to do in the past,  As a consequence, even one person equipped with the most advanced instrument can cause a calamity to the wilderness areas. As one person equipped the most advanced lumbering technology can cutting down a certain mount of trees in a wild forest if no regulations prohibiting lumbering in these areas. Therefore, we should cautious about these areas although only a few people may be accessible to them.  


Finally, enacting laws or investing on preserving the wilderness areas is beneficial to these areas, consequently, it is conducive to protecting the environment. As mentioned above, we have realize the importance of the wilderness areas, and the in order to protecting these areas, the government should involve in these protecting activities. People are often motivated by self-interest to do some harmful activities toward the wild areas if there are not legislations to restrict such deeds. And preserving these wild areas also require a great deal of money, for we should establish some facilities and pay some workers on preserving the condition of these areas. So the government must enact laws and invest on the facilities in the interest of these areas.

To sum up, given the fact that wilderness areas are so important in protecting the whole environment and people can do great harm to the environment whether the number of them is large or not, we should pay much attention to preserving these areas and even the government should do something for preserving them.
