ISSUE88 - "Technologies not only influence but actually determine social customs and ethics."
技术不仅仅影响而且实际上是决定了社会传统和道德规范。
With the development of technologies, human-beings’ life experienced unparalleled change. Thus the speaker asserts that it is the technologies which no only influence but also actually determine social custom and ethics. I recognize the technologies' great impact on our society. Nevertheless, social customs and ethics may be influenced by technologies, but not determined by technologies.

Admittedly, the improvement of technologies, have changed the state of our lives grandly from before. Otherwise, we cannot enjoy the current convenient and comfortable lives today. Let’s take the development of communication for example. In the past, if one wants to communicate with others far away, it has to resort to the letters, and wait a long time for the reply. Nowadays, due to the internet, people can write e-mails to each other and receive the reply immediately. Furthermore, with the help of technology, human beings' ethical system also gets advancement. As we known, it is the industrial revolution that liberated our women who were limited to housework before. All above prove that our traditional cultures and ethics were indeed affected by the developing technologies.

However, the customs cannot be determined by the technology. Because customs always are inherited generation by generation, it can hardly be changed. At Christmas Eve, people never forget to put gifts to their families in socks, even though most people have lived in modern houses where no chimney exists; in Saint Valentines' Day, men always send roses to their lovers; similarly, at the traditional Spring Festival the whole family will reunite and at the Mid-Autumn Day, every Chinese eat the moon-cake. Therefore, even though technologies can influence some aspects of customs, they hardly determine our customs.  

In addition, the ethics are also just affected not determined by the technologies. It is determined by the religions, belief and values. Furthermore, to some extent, social ethics influence development of technologies. As the development of the modern society, many new technologies are forbidden because it may break the social ethics. Such as the clone, because it may break the ethics of human beings' elements, so the human cloning are forbidden in many countries.

In summary, technologies indeed have changed our daily life. But it can only influence our social customs and ethics rather than determine them.
第一次写伦理道德的文章，憋了很久还是只能写这么点了。

ISSUE203 - "The best way to understand the character of a society is to examine the character of the men and women that the society chooses as its heroes or its heroines."
了解一个社会特征的最佳方式就是研究被那个社会视为英雄的人们的特征。
1、英雄只是一个社会理想的模范，并不能代表前面的特征，许多英雄甚至被看作完美的人，虽然他们本人可能都不可能达到这样的要求，但是他们的特点已经被媒体和民众夸大了。
2、其次，英雄只代表了一个社会的终极价值观，英雄是在人们的脑子里，最理想的状态，人们更多的是崇拜，而不是效仿。
3、不可否认，英雄也能够多少反映一些社会价值观。
4、最佳的认识社会特点的方式是了解民众，包括了解他们看待英雄的态度。
ISSUE183 - "As we acquire more knowledge, things do not become more comprehensible, but more complex and more mysterious."
随着我们获取的知识越来越多，事情并没有变的更好理解，反而是变得更复杂更神秘。
1、的确，积累的知识越多，决定事情的因素就越多，人们需要考虑更多的问题，人们已经不可能掌握所有的知识。
2、全球化的趋势使得不同的文化和国家之间联系越来越紧密，也使得各种事情越来越复杂。
3、但是，许多事情其实并没有复杂化，而是被简单化了。学科的细分使得专家能够在一个相对狭小的领域里深入研究，而这些研究成果通过通才联系起来。因此，现代社会的许多事情虽然比过去复杂，但是解决问题的方法变得更多样和简单。
ISSUE112 - "Some educational systems emphasize the development of students' capacity for reasoning and logical thinking, but students would benefit more from an education that also taught them to explore their own emotions."
有些教育体系强调学生推理和逻辑思维能力的培养，但除此之外，也教学生探索其自我情感的教育，可使学生获益更多。
1. 在工作和学习中推理和逻辑思维能力有着十分重要的作用。
2. 过分强调推理和认知能力并不利于学生的发展。
3. 自我情感的教育在学生的成长过程中同样是非常重要的。
4. 个人的发展和社会发展需要两者平衡。
ISSUE30 - "The primary goal of technological advancement should be to increase people's efficiency so that everyone has more leisure time."
技术进步的首要目标应该是提高人们的效率，使得每个人都有更多的闲暇时光。
1、实际上，技术从人类文明诞生的时候就存在了，早期的技术目的是帮助人类征服自然并满足人类生存的需要。工业革命之后，技术开始帮助大部分的人类提高生活质量和生活标准，技术开始飞速发展，并极大的提高了人们的生产效率，技术开始造福于大部分的人类，使得他们不光能够购买的起各种日常生活的设备，同时还向有更多的空闲时间。
2、提高人们的效率应导致人们有更多的闲暇时间是技术进步的一个必然结果，但它并不是技术的主要目标。现代技术已经使得人们之间的关系更加冷漠，早期富有创意的手工劳动已经被机器所取代，而操作机器的工人的工作异常的枯燥，过去讨价还价的热闹景象也开始逐渐被超市里的冷漠的贸易所取代。如果说这就是技术进步的主要目的，那么技术一定会被许多人所排斥。
3、在当今的飞速发展的时代，技术的目的逐渐变的越来越多，首先，技术的发展速度越来越快，而应用到人们生活中的周期也越来越短，这无疑为人类提供了更多的舒适设备，并使得大多数的人们能够更明显的享受到技术的便利；其次，忽视对自然影响工业技术的快速发展，最终导致技术的发展一些侧面开始影响到整个社会，并开始从某种意义上说阻碍人类社会的发展，比如工业废水和废气会对人类的健康造成严重影响；

In this issue the speaker asserts that social customs and ethics are influenced and determined by technologies. At first glance his opinion seems reasonable. However, although technologies play as important parts in our society.(???) I still consider that technologies influence but not actually determine social customs and ethics, as disscussed below.

I do not deny that technologies really influence social customs and ethics. In ancient era, the most significant difference between human beings and animals is that human races could use technologies(在这里是工具的意思吗，如果是tools会不会更好些呢) which are very simple, such as a stone knife.（这应该有个小小的转折会更好吧,或者直接说：such as stone knives ,cudgels, and so on）. In some ancient clans, certain technologies as fire they get from chafing wood and have been recognizes as their totems.  (???)
With the development of society, technologies become more and more complicated and thchnologies ave influenced social customs and ethics furthermore. In the first technology revolution, great inventions, including steam machine, telephone and telegraph, pushed society to make rapid progress in every(all) respect of human's lives. Traditional social customs and ethics changed little by little. For example, in Chinese Spring Festival, people should(需要吗) go to families of relative persons so that could bring blessing. With the development of technologies,(重复，不好！) Chinese people have used to bless their relatives through telephone or Internet ，abandoning traditional social customs and ethics.

However, technologies do not（fails to） determine social customs and ethics. It will take a long time to form customs and ethics of countries. During this period, the theoris of philosophy and culture are the most important influence on social customs and ethics. What's more, the political leaders, such as kings and presidents, also have power to influence and change social customs and ethics. For instance,  in Chinese history males had right to marry two or more females. This custom has lasted about eight hundred years. However, after Chairman Mao became the leader of P.R. China, he abolished the custom of polygamy and establish new ethic of monogamy. Even if in the modern society in which technologies have influenced society more and more, customs and ethics still are difficult to be influenced by technologies. People including children and old people could smoothly used computers and mobile phones, but they still obey traditional social customs and ethics about family, culture and moral.(???) So it is not properly declaimed that technologies determines social ethics.

Being the most fatal factors of society, customs and ethics are steady enough not to be  changed and influenced. However, technologies have chances to determine social customs in the future. Although cloning human is illegal now, we can assume that the technology of cloning human will be accepted as a new social ethic if human beings face on crucial situation about procreating offsprings. (克隆人好像一直未被世界认可)Although technologies might influence and determine social customs and ethics, the moral system is not easy to be changed being formed after a long history.

In summary, based on the contents discussed above, I can draw conclusions of contention with the speaker. The speaker's assertion is too absolute. Technologies could influenced social customs and ethics, but it is partly wrong in considering that technologies determine them.
