TOPIC: ISSUE38 - "In the age of television, reading books is not as important as it once was. People can learn as much by watching television as they can by reading books."


In this issue, I could not agree any more about the assertion that people learn much from watching television, even as much as that from reading books. However, the opinion that reading books is not as important as it once was strongly undermines my appreciation towards the writer, for I hold the view that reading books indeed play a more crucial role in our daily life.

Admittedly, non and nothing can neglect the huge changes that television bring to our life, especially in the angle of offering information and entertainment. TV provides a more vivid and lively information from all over the world for us to pick up and learn, the quantity and speed are where the books can not match. We learn the success of ShenZhou Five by watching TV but not by reading books; we learn how exactly the Olympic Games had been taken place from TV but not from books; we can even be taught by famous teachers in the TV which the books can not provide...

All of these and those I have not mentioned but well-known to all make the TV appear to completely replace the position of books in our life, nevertheless, we often overlook the disadvantages that drawn from watching TV. One of the major problems is that children become deeply trapped in the addiction of TV and heavily influenced by it. Parents today may find pulling their children from watching TV more and more difficult, the aftermath of which would lead to the decrease of the children's passion to study, to do sports, and it would even lead the children to wrong directions and do wrong things as there are tens of hundreds of such wrong doings performed in the TV which the children can not distinguish right from wrong. Worse still, it may not only serious harm both the material and spiritual of the child, but people at all ages.

Therefore, as long as the TV can not overcome its disadvantages, we could never claim that reading books is out of fashion. Furthermore, the advantages of reading books have not been undermined. Firstly, it offers us a direct and active way to learning knowledge while that provides by TV are passive. Secondly, we can touch the books and as they may not disappear as fast as TV, we have time to think, to choose the essence from waste. Finally, the shortcomings of reading books compared to watching TV may turn out to be its advantages to some extent: it is not so vivid thus it would minimize the effects of bad things; it is not so quick in passing information thus it would not mix up with true and falsehood.

To sum up, I am of the opinion that the integration of watching TV and reading books may be the best solution for our study. And whatever we do according to the TV or books, we should think over.

选择的论述角度不好，没有紧扣题目的信息量和与书的比较这两个内容。题目之所以说书不再重要，是因为tv的信息量不小于它。所以看你的思路，应该是让步承认tv的信息量不小于tv，然后集中论述为什么书仍然很重要，你简单的说tv的缺陷不能说明书就没有这个缺陷，或者书很重要，而且你段内的论述有些过于简单，像是直接给出一个结论，自己却不加以详细的论证，而这恰恰是得分的关键点！！

还有一周，多理理思路吧，整理好提纲吧，你的表达还可以。加油
