ISSUE207 - "Rituals and ceremonies help define a culture. Without them, societies or groups of people have a diminished sense of who they are."
典礼和仪式有助于定义一个文化。如果没有这些，社会或者团体的认同感、归属感就会削弱。

The speaker asserts that the rituals and ceremonies, in the nation or group, can help people to promote the sense of identity and belonging, without them people may be impossible to gain such feeling. It might be tempting to agree with the speaker on the basis that Rituals and ceremonies help define a culture. However, the speaker overemphasizes the importance of the rituals and ceremonies in the culture. In fact, they are just the manifestation of the culture.

No one can deny the fact that the rituals and ceremonies are important for one nation and which also can help outsiders recognize the culture of nation. For one thing, the ceremonies can help the people of the same culture backgrounds to gain the feeling of belonging, and they can clearly know where they came from. Meanwhile, the ceremonies also act like a window that those who come from the other cultures or other backgrounds to learn some respects of information or traditions.

Though the rituals and ceremonies can make a deep impression upon many people, it is the traditional customs and cultures that preserve one nation. First of all, the rituals and ceremonies is just one form to represent the tradition, there also have many other forms of representations can also identify the cultures, such as the language, festivals, dress, dietary and so on. Let’s take the dress for example. There are many countries, such as Scotland, India and Korea, reserve their own national apparel, especially wearing it when the special day like marriage holiday or some ceremonies. That is why many cultures have still survives in the modern world, even most of their traditional ceremonies have disappeared.

Furthermore, plenty of rituals and ceremonies today have lost their original meaning, they are just as a procedure and don’t contain too much culture and tradition.

In sum, rituals and ceremonies, is helpful to preserve one cultures, however, it is unwarranted to conclude that the people of a nations or group may loss it’s identities if all the rituals and ceremonies are extinct.

2．不同的文化间的比较的确有利于人们发现彼此文化的差异，对自己的文化理解更深；
3．除了文化间的比较外，对自我文化的自省也是非常重要的。

人们可以通过研究一个社会的主要城市来了解它最重要的特点。
1．城市只是代表了一个社会的表层状态，一般而言，城市只是在一定程度上反映该社会的面貌；
2．当人们通过城市去了解某个社会的特点的时候，往往不能得到全面客观的认识；
3．中小城市和农村里的普通人的生活状态才是一个社会的真实写照；

高速的电子通讯媒介，如电子邮件和电视，倾向于阻止有意义、有思想深度的交流。
1．高速的电子通信媒体只是缩短了通信的之间的过程，并没有缩短人们的思维时间；
2．高速媒体一方面缩短了人们做出选择的时间，另一方面也为人们快速的做出选择提供了条件；
3．高速的电子邮件是人们能够更快更广的交流各种信息，因此做出更有意义和思维能力的判断；
4．电视将全球各地的信息互相交流，因此开阔了大多数人的眼界；

科技产生的问题多于其所解决的，并可能威胁或损害人们的生活质量。
1、随着科技的不断发展，双重性凸现，危害人类的一面逐步增多
