writing(Celebrities): If you could travel back in time to meet a famous person from history, what person would you like to meet? Use specific reasons and examples to support your choice.
History is fraught with a large number of persons who contributed a lot to the development of the whole world. As for me, if I could travel back in time, I would like to meet Deng Xiaoping, one of the excellent leaders in China. In my opinion, his reform and opening-up policy plays a pivotal role in promoting China's economic development and his thought of "One country, two systems" laid the solid foundation for China mainland's successful reunion with Hong Kong in 1997. Besides an outstanding political leader, he was also an easy-going and kind hearted man. Up to now, countries in the world are witnessing a surging China in respect to economy and politics. In China, even in the world, there is no denying the fact that it was Mr. Deng who helped shape today's China. His policy of opening China's door to the world tremendously affected China and finally lead to China's rapid development. Hence, I would certainly feel honored to meet him and talk with this great policy maker. By doing so, it is no doubt that I could learn his mind and might make great policy in my later life as Deng did. In 1997, the historical issue of Hong Kong that attracted world attention was settled due to Deng's great thought "One country, two systems". The thought of this great man not only resulted in the Hong Kong’s successful reunion with China mainland, but also sustained the prosperity of Hong Kong. I want to know how he came up with such a great idea and why he was so sure that the two-system policy could function well in Hong Kong. Surely, it would be an exciting experience to talk with a great man about his grand thought. Another thing that encouraged me to meet him in his time is his easy-going and kind hearted character. Many history books have informed me of the fact that Deng, though as a precursor in many aspects in China's development, was easy to be approached. As is often told in today's China, he was always concerned more with people lives than his official role. It is said that a family in a poor area was once in deep trouble, knowing the fact, as a NO.1 government leader he even visited the family personally and helped the family out. In brief, I am hoping for such a chance to meet Deng Xiaoping if I could travel back in time. And talking to him can, on one hand, give me the inspiration to make great policies and on the other, teach me how to be a man in both government and in daily life.
