I agree with the author's assertion money spent on research is always a good investment, even though the results are controversial. And furthermore, in my opinion, we could not invest research just rely on its controversial results.

As everyone knows, research has benefited us in every realm of our life, and we live a prospective era that our ancestor never achieve. Owing to development of science and technology, we now could use computer, cell phone and other equipment to be more convenient in life; owing to the research of agriculture, we may eat more delicious food; owing to the research of history, we get a more penetrated view seeing the world; owing to the research of art, we obtain more and more aesthetic enjoyment. So, without the research, we could not thrive or even survive in this world. Moreover, as research is a work needing equipment and people's endeavor, and many experiments and many possible situation should be judged before getting the results, money is a must factor to achieve research success, especially in today. Thus, we should support the investment spending on research.

However, even if some result we obtain is controversial, we could not deny the investment spending on research. Research is uncertain, so that no one could know the results before it, and all we know is a plan and anticipated results. Some results we get is only occasional, just like Benjamin Franklin with the Levin. Additionally, sometimes the results we plan could be used in another aspect, which could be harmful to us. For supporting example we need look no further the research of atom energy. When we get into research, we plan to make more electricity and more energy for us, while we got the atomic arms, which even could the earth at the same time. We could deny the merits we got due to the investment, only relied on the demerits we suffer. Because we could resort to our morality and ethics, which could constrain this or that harmful effect, we may decrease the bad effect the controversial problems the research brings. Just like we now have law and organization engaging in controlling the atomic arms and all the society denounce the clone of human.

Furthermore, we could judge these controversial issues with another angle, that is, sometimes the more controversial, the more valuable. Take the example of research on Frankenfood, the security of which is still controversial. But due to this controversy, we need more research on its security, as people become more and more care for their health on this Frankenfood. To this extend, the investment in controversial research is more valuable, not unworthy.

Finally, even some results we obtain are controversial, but we still need investment and confidence in research. For this issue, we could make our ethic and morality to restrict the bad effect, especially on the research would benefit us.

对于controversial的理解我有点不同意见，应该指结论有矛盾，而不是好坏两方面，所以我觉得unclea的例子不太好。
第三段没展开，个人觉得不要也罢，集中写好两段或许更好。
