How to control this technology is an unprecedented problem and we can learn nothing from past because we have never owned such a great power. Take cloning technology as another example, through cloning technology, we are able to clone organs to save the patients' lives who have to replace some their organs with new ones. However, some people advocated that human cloning by cloning technology and human cloning may cause many ethical and moral problems which we have never faced before. Do these new technologies benefit us more or harm us more? What actions should we take to prevent the detrimental effect by of them? There are many such new and complex problems to solve nowadays.

Although understanding past cannot provide much guidance to some new problems, we can learn lesson from our experiences in the past. Based on work our predecessors had done, we can solve some problems more easily. Consider build up a new theory in biology, we may have several sorts of experiments to do. Knowing others' successful and unsuccessful experiments related to this problem, we can see what methods are infeasible, based on which we can directly try other methods. Thus, with past experiences we can save time and resource. Moreover, our public policies are modified again and again according to past experiences of past. As the old industries lacked advanced technology and developed slowly in the past, our government has opened more colleges and encouraged universities and colleges to enroll more students to train more intellectuals so that more technologies can be developed and the industries can develop fast. In short, past experience can benefit a lot since they give us some suggestions.

Moreover, study of the famous individual in history can inspire us to attain great achievement and be brave to face difficulties in our present lives. For example, inspired by Magellan, the first person who made a global travel to justify that the earth is round, students may decide to explore the outer space in future. And some students may learn that only insisting to confront the difficulties and never giving up can one achieve the goal. Therefore, study of past can also instigate us to lead a meaningful life.

In sum, understanding the past cannot help solve some new and complex problems nowadays which are caused by modern technologies. Yet, the past can offer us experiences to solve some problems more easily. Moreover, studying key individuals in history can inspire us a great deal to achieve great aims.
